Company Description
Perigon Partners is a certified B Corp strategy consultancy that puts the CEOs and Boards of mid-sized businesses in command of an uncertain world. We combine a breadth in corporate strategy with depth in sustainability and a 'business less usual' approach to developing long-term business plans that build resilience, adaptability and growth. As part of our depth in sustainability, we support clients - predominantly in financial services and infrastructure sectors - with ESG reporting and disclosures. Navigating SECR, TCFD, Carbon Reduction Plans and, increasingly, UK SRS (IFRS S1 and S2), we bring a pragmatic, holistic and strategy approach to reporting. Clients we support with reporting include Allica Bank, Funding Circle, and Cynergy Bank. Perigon also authors the annual "Banking Sustainability Barometer", which analyses the public disclosures of over 50 UK banks, fintechs and building societies to display key trends and future predictions for sustainability reporting in this sector.
Role Description
We are looking to expand our team of self-employed / freelance associates to include someone specialising in sustainability reporting. This role is perfect for someone who wants to combine the autonomy of being self-employed with the benefits of accessing the brilliant team, tools and methodologies that we've painstakingly built over the last five years. The Sustainability Reporting Associate will deliver high-quality sustainability reporting advice and delivery for Perigon's clients and lead on the continued development of Perigon's leading proposition in this space.
Responsibilities include:
- Drafting powerful, data-driven narrative
- Data collection, issue resolution and analysis
- Stakeholder engagement
- Ensuring client compliance with relevant ESG standards and regulations
- Advising on the requirements for key disclosure frameworks including incoming UK SRS
- Developing pragmatic reporting improvement plans
- Building Perigon's sustainability reporting methodologies and toolkits
The role involves collaborating with Perigon team members and clients. The volume of work will be variable and may range from a few days per month to full time depending on client demand and internal Perigon projects. We anticipate that this role will appeal to someone who already works part time on a freelance or fractional basis. In time, this role could convert to being a permanent salaried role with Perigon.
Mandatory Attributes (DO NOT APPLY IF YOU CANNOT DEMONSTRATE ALL OF THESE)
- Comfortable with self-employed nature of the role and variable work volumes
- At least 6-10 years of 'real world' experience working inside businesses
- At least 3 years of this in UK financial services - preferably banking but asset management and insurance backgrounds will also be considered
- Previous or current accountability for sustainability reporting including TCFD (or the equivalent Climate-related Financial Disclosures via the UK Companies Act)
- Deep working knowledge of the current and evolving UK sustainability reporting policy and regulatory environment
- Belief that disclosures should tell a powerful story, not just tick a compliance box
- Exceptional writing skills - NOT dependent on AI
- Preference for doing something new over repeating / improving an existing process
- Comfortable working in a predominantly remote setting
Desired Attributes (THESE WILL STRENGTHEN YOUR APPLICATION)
- Works well as part of a high-calibre team
- Some experience in consulting or advisory
- Experience working with ExCo and Board level stakeholders
- Experience working with internal and external auditors
- Experimentation with how and when AI can be used to streamline and improve the reporting and disclosure process
- Based in Edinburgh
