St Richard’s Hospice strategic intent 2024 – 2027
Our vision, Caring for Life Together, inspires our purpose to continue providing care and support for people with an illness that cannot be cured and supporting their loved ones with practical, emotional and bereavement support. We will deliver our purpose through the following 6 strategic intentions:
- Our Clinical Excellence: Delivering exceptional care that continues to meet the holistic needs of people within our communities. Continually improving our services, ensuring they are easily accessible, responsive, safe and sustainable and maintain a CQC rating of Good or above. Ensuring our Hospice environment continues to enhance comfort, dignity and well-being.
- Valuing our quality workforce: Delivering St Richard’s care and support through an integrated, inclusive and diverse workforce of empowered staff and volunteers, maintaining our reputation as a good employer. Attracting and retaining people through competitive salaries, benefits, flexibility and welfare support. Investing in our people and enhancing skills through ongoing learning and development. Offering flexibility, variety and quality in our volunteering opportunities, utilising people’s unique value and potential.
- Learning and research underpin our organisation: Developing a culture of learning and continuous improvement throughout St Richard’s. Using research outcomes and best practice to support development across all areas of our hospice, from services to income generation.
- Digital transformation: Developing information technology and digital solutions to facilitate different ways of working that maximise the efficient and effective use of our resources. Exploring the use of artificial intelligence systems to identify possible opportunities for use. Utilising digital systems, processes and records across all our activities to ensure regulatory compliance and support the delivery of exceptional care and support services. Ensuring the ongoing development and production of robust data to inform our continuous improvement, decision‑making, management and governance.
- Sustainability underpins our growth: Creating a culture of continuous improvement and growth across all our income generation streams, ensuring future sustainability and service delivery. Maintaining St Richard’s desired target level of free reserves with effective and efficient, and where practical environmentally friendly, use of resources. Developing future services only when there is an equally identifiable and sustainable level of income.
- Profile, partnership and collaboration underpin our reputation: Developing St Richard’s profile and respected reputation in all the local communities we serve through our partnership and collaboration with donors, supporters, hospices, other charities and the NHS. Nurturing and sustaining these relationships to achieve effective joint working and the ongoing creation of beneficial outcomes for patients and their loved ones.
