Head of Fundraising and Communications Save the Rhino

Lead fundraising and communications for Save the Rhino International, inspiring support so all five rhino species can thrive in the wild.

  • Location: London

Save the Rhino International is a trusted UK-registered charity (No. 1035072) working across Africa and Asia to create a future where all five rhino species thrive in the wild. Established in 1994, Save the Rhino supports and connects a global network of conservationists, rangers, communities and organisations – providing resources and building long-term, collaborative partnerships. Through targeted funding and knowledge-sharing, the Charity is at the forefront of efforts to secure rhino population recovery and disrupt the organised crime networks driving the illegal wildlife trade. Alongside this, we focus on building the resilience of critical rhino habitats, expanding rhino ranges, and tackling habitat loss and limitations.

Who we are

Save the Rhino International is a conservation charity working towards a future where all five rhino species thrive in the wild. We collaborate with expert partners and communities across Africa and Asia to protect endangered rhinos and the landscapes they depend on. Our work combines frontline protection and law enforcement with effective management and monitoring of rhino populations and habitats. We also help tackle the illegal wildlife trade, strengthen the skills of conservation professionals, bring experts and agencies together, engage local stakeholders and develop sustainable funding for priority conservation. By working with dedicated partners and supporters worldwide, we aim to stop poaching and habitat loss and secure healthy, viable rhino populations for generations to come.

About the role

The Head of Fundraising and Communications will provide strategic leadership across Save the Rhino International’s income generation, supporter engagement and external communications. Working collaboratively across the organisation, you will develop an integrated approach that grows sustainable income, strengthens the charity’s profile and inspires people to support its mission. You will lead the planning and delivery of fundraising and communications activity, build strong relationships with supporters and partners, and ensure that evidence of conservation impact is shared with clarity and purpose. As a senior leader, you will bring teams and priorities together, use insight to guide decision-making and create the conditions for ambitious, creative and effective work. Your contribution will help secure the resources and public support needed to ensure that Rhinos can thrive in the wild.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a strategic, collaborative leader who can grow sustainable income and bring Save the Rhino International’s conservation mission to life. You will bring senior-level experience in fundraising and communications, with a strong track record of developing integrated strategies, diversifying income and building lasting supporter relationships. Your experience will include securing significant gifts, developing individual giving and identifying fundraising opportunities across international markets.

You will understand how to connect fundraising, marketing and communications around shared audiences, using insight and evidence to strengthen engagement and results. You will be comfortable shaping strategy and supporting delivery, you will bring sound financial judgement, confidence in managing budgets and forecasts, and a clear commitment to ethical fundraising.

You will be an inclusive leader who develops multidisciplinary teams, builds effective partnerships and communicates confidently with colleagues, Trustees and supporters. Above all, you will share our commitment to turning evidence-based expertise into practical action that safeguards rhino species and their landscapes – because when rhinos thrive, so do the people and wildlife who live alongside them.

International wildlife conservation, environment or development-sector experience is highly desirable, but not essential.

Save the Rhino is a registered charity in England and Wales (No. 1035072).
