About the role
This is a senior role at the heart of Fauna & Flora’s ambition to grow and diversify its institutional funding. You’ll lead a small, skilled team to secure income from government and multilateral donors, including Defra, FCDO, the EU, AFD and a range of climate and environmental funds, at a moment when that landscape is shifting fast. Reporting to the Director of Global Policy & Government Relations, with a close working relationship with the Global Director of Fundraising, you’ll develop and drive the institutional funding strategy, build a robust pipeline of opportunities and help position Fauna & Flora with the donors that matter most. Crucially, you’ll also help the organisation better connect its government relations and influencing work to its fundraising — an area of real and deliberate focus right now. You’ll work closely with conservation programme teams across four regions, as well as globally focused technical teams, making this a role with genuine reach and variety. Whether you’re leading a complex bid, negotiating donor terms, or representing Fauna & Flora at an international forum, you’ll be helping to resource some of the most important conservation work happening anywhere in the world.
Who we are looking for
You’ll be an experienced institutional fundraiser who knows what it takes to secure six and seven‑figure grants from government and multilateral donors. You’ll understand donor priorities, processes and internal structures in real depth, with a track record of delivering them. But this role asks for more than technical expertise. You’ll be someone who can read a fast‑changing external landscape and respond strategically, whilst bringing senior leaders along with you. We seek someone who can build relationships with confidence and credibility at every level. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential: you’ll be making complex information accessible to very different audiences, from programme colleagues to government officials. You’ll be a natural collaborator, comfortable working across a large, dispersed organisation, and you’ll bring genuine curiosity about the conservation mission that sits behind the funding.
