The postholder will be responsible for developing and delivering a clear and coherent product strategy spanning general, vocational, technical and skills qualifications. You will lead qualification development processes, embedding a right first-time approach that responds to market needs and supports high-quality outcomes. You will also oversee portfolio performance reviews and embed a culture of continuous improvement across the full qualification lifecycle, while ensuring ongoing compliance with regulatory conditions and maintaining strong, effective relationships with regulators and key stakeholders.

In this role, you will play a critical part in driving WJEC's transformation. You will bring a stronger commercial focus to qualification development, shape processes to support reform in England and influence the future of education across Wales and beyond. Central to the role will be the establishment and management of a market intelligence function, providing robust insight to inform strategic decision-making and identify opportunities for growth.

Our strategy prioritises:

You will have proven senior-level leadership experience in qualification product management and/or assessment, alongside strong commercial acumen and the ability to connect product development with market needs. A thorough understanding of the context and organisation of the qualification landscape in Wales and England, including their regulatory frameworks, will be essential, as will the ability to influence, negotiate and build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and policymakers.

You will be comfortable managing multiple priorities and programmes of work, using insight and data to drive continuous improvement. Personally, you will be a collaborative and engaging leader who listens carefully, inspires confidence and brings people with you through periods of change. You will be politically astute and credible, with the ability to organise complexity into clear, strategic direction. Dynamic and resilient in style, you will balance innovation with discipline, maintaining momentum while ensuring rigour and focus.
