Location: London

Who we are

London College of Contemporary Arts (LCCA) is a specialist higher education institution in central London, offering career-focused degrees across hospitality, business and the creative industries. We are part of Global University Systems, an international education group that empowers students to transform their lives through education. LCCA is an exciting and inspiring place to work, bringing business and creative subjects together in one collaborative environment where academic staff, practitioners and students learn from each other. Our culture is dynamic, proactive and student-centred, with a focus on the quality of the student experience and on helping every learner to thrive personally, academically and professionally.

LCCA is a distinctive community where creative and social science disciplines sit side by side and actively collaborate. Students can study fashion design, graphic design, computer games design, business or hospitality management on courses built around real industry experience. This closeness between subject areas creates a unique learning environment, with students benefiting from connections they might not find elsewhere as they take on live briefs, collaborate with professionals and work on practical projects that build skills, portfolio and industry connections. Lecturers and tutors are active professionals as well as academics and are encouraged to try new ideas, work across departments and help students understand the rich intersections between creativity, culture and business.

Our degrees are awarded by the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) and we have campuses in the heart of London at Aldgate and Tower Hill that provide our students with state-of-the-art studios and specialist learning spaces for each subject area, as well as collaborative and social spaces designed to spark ideas, build networks and bring projects to life.

As the Academic Director – Learning and Teaching, you will join a passionate team committed to innovation in teaching, cross-disciplinary projects and industry-engaged learning that prepares our diverse student community for impactful careers in fast-changing global sectors. The Academic Director – Learning and Teaching will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of excellent teaching, learning and assessment across the London College of Contemporary Arts (LCCA). Working cross‑institutionally, the postholder will ensure that academic staff at all levels deliver a consistently high‑quality academic experience.

You will lead key processes that develop teaching capability, including staff recruitment and onboarding, management of the teaching observation programme and engagement with CPD opportunities, such as HEA Fellowship pathways and PGCert qualifications. As the institutional lead for learning, teaching and assessment, the Academic Director – Learning and Teaching will ensure the College meets the expectations of regulators and awarding bodies, upholding quality and maintaining robust assessment standards. You will contribute to the implementation of LCCA’s academic strategy, including work related to OfS registration and progress toward Taught Degree Awarding Powers (TDAP). With over 10,000 students and further growth anticipated, the postholder will provide strong, collaborative leadership, working closely with College Deans and the Principal to advance LCCA’s educational mission and support student success.
