Overview
An inspiring and inclusive SEN school in Haringey is seeking a dedicated Music Teacher to join their team from April 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and creative teacher who is committed to delivering engaging music lessons to students with a range of special educational needs (SEN). You will have the chance to foster a love for music, enhance students\β creative expression, and contribute to their overall development in a nurturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Full-time, permanent position at a supportive SEN school in Haringey
- Deliver music lessons to students with a variety of special educational needs, including learning disabilities, SEMH (social, emotional, and mental health) needs, and autism
- Create an engaging and inclusive music curriculum that meets the individual needs of students and fosters their creative talents
- Use a range of adapted teaching strategies to ensure all students can participate in and benefit from music lessons
- Support students\β personal and emotional development through music, building confidence and communication skills
- Work closely with SEN support staff to deliver personalized learning experiences
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives and events, including performances, music-related extracurricular activities and projects
Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) β essential
- Experience teaching music in a special educational needs setting or mainstream school
- Strong knowledge of music theory and a range of musical instruments, with a passion for engaging students in creative music-making
- Experience working with students with SEN, particularly those with autism, learning difficulties, or SEMH
- A creative, flexible approach to teaching, with the ability to adapt lessons to suit a variety of learning styles
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- Enhanced DBS check required
