About the Role:


  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the music department, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality and engaging music curriculum across Key Stages 3-5, including A-Level.

  • Direct and develop school choirs, bands, and instrumental ensembles, preparing students for high-profile performances and competitions.

  • Plan and execute a diverse program of musical events, showcasing student talent and fostering a love for music throughout the school community.

  • Contribute to the development of our music curriculum, ensuring it remains innovative, relevant, and aligned with current educational standards.

  • Provide instrumental and vocal tuition, nurturing individual student potential and supporting their musical development.

  • Manage and mentor a team of specialist music teachers, fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment.

  • Oversee the maintenance and development of music facilities and resources, ensuring they meet the needs of our students and teachers.

Ideal Candidate:


  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong musical background and expertise in a variety of instruments and musical styles.

  • Proven experience in leading musical ensembles and preparing students for public performances at a high level.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students and colleagues.

  • A creative and enthusiastic approach to teaching music and a passion for fostering a love of music in young people.

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to provide strategic direction and support to a team of specialist teachers.
