Overview: As the Digital Business Director, you will play a critical role in shaping and delivering digital strategy within our key account's Content Macro Vertical, working in close partnership with the Digital Lead. This role represents broader strategic ownership, people leadership responsibility, and accountability for connecting strategy to execution.

You will own the digital strategy for a defined area of the macro vertical, ensuring alignment to the overarching direction set by the Digital Lead. You will manage and develop two Digital Account Directors, providing clear strategic guardrails and ensuring high‐quality delivery across Brand and Trade activity. This role sits between strategic leadership and delivery orchestration. You will translate macro‐level digital strategy into actionable direction for Digital Account Directors and channel teams, while feeding insight, opportunities and risks back up to the Digital Lead. You will also be a key driver of innovation, test‐and‐learn and adoption of data‐ and AI‐led practices within your remit.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Ownership & Delivery: Own and shape digital strategy for a defined area within the Content Macro Vertical, aligned to the overarching macro strategy. Act as a senior digital point of contact for stakeholders within your remit, supporting broader senior stakeholder relationships led by the Digital Lead. Lead digital strategy briefs and projects within your scope, ensuring alignment with client's business priorities.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Line‐manage two Digital Directors, providing strategic direction, coaching and performance support. Ensure Digital Account Directors are empowered to deliver high‐quality Brand and Trade digital plans, with clear guardrails and priorities. Support capability development within the team, embedding best practice and consistent standards.
  • Integration & Orchestration: Ensure effective integration of Brand + Trade and Campaign + Always‐On digital activity within your area. Orchestrate delivery of digital media plans, ensuring consistency across channels and teams. Act as the connective layer between Digital Lead strategy and Digital Account Director execution.
  • Data, Tech & AI Enablement: Drive adoption of priority data‐led approaches, AI practices and digital tools within your remit, aligned to macro‐level standards. Partner with the Digital, Data & Tech Lead and NextLab to support pilots, tests and innovation initiatives. Ensure learning from tests is documented, shared and applied in future planning.
  • Commercial & Performance Focus: Ensure digital plans are performance‐driven, commercially sound and aligned to defined KPIs. Identify optimisation and efficiency opportunities within your area and escalates broader opportunities to the Digital Lead.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be an experienced digital media expert with strong leadership potential, ready to step beyond hands‐on execution into a broader strategic and people‐management role. You will bring a deep understanding of digital media and performance, combined with the ability to guide teams, connect strategy to delivery, and operate confidently with senior stakeholders. Experience in a digital planning or strategy role with strong cross‐channel knowledge (Paid Search, Paid Social, Programmatic). Proven experience managing or mentoring senior practitioners or teams. Ability to translate high‐level strategy into clear, actionable direction for delivery teams. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Experience supporting innovation, testing or transformation initiatives in digital media. Commercially minded, with the ability to balance performance, quality and efficiency.
