The Data Strategy Director will lead the vision, development, and execution of data‑driven strategies that unlock the value of first‑party (1P) Sky data and our proprietary Publicis ID assets, as well as identifying new external data sources appropriate to our campaign goals. This role is pivotal in harnessing these data assets to deliver advanced personalisation, measurable marketing outcomes, and business growth for Sky. The Data Strategy Director will be assigned to the Sky account, but will also work closely with the Head of Data Strategy at a Publicis level to align, in both directions, Sky use cases and our broader data strategy roadmap.
Responsibilities
- Lead the formulation of data strategy for Sky, with an emphasis on leveraging client 1P data and proprietary identity assets to deliver against campaign strategies.
- Collaborate with client stakeholders, the agency team and additional Publicis stakeholders to understand client business goals, campaign goals, data availability, maturity and compliance.
- Oversee the development and scaling of campaign targeting and personalisation using audience segmentation, predictive modelling, and ID resolution tools.
- Drive adoption and innovation around Publicis’ proprietary ID solutions, ensuring they are effectively integrated within the Sky business.
- Monitor performance, ensuring data strategies directly contribute to meaningful growth and ROI for clients.
- Act as a thought‑leader on topics including data privacy, GDPR and other data legislation, customer‑centricity, and Publicis’ proprietary data products.
- Partner with product and engineering teams, and with new and existing external data partners, to identify opportunities for enhancements to existing assets, products and integrations.
- Guide data governance, compliance, and best practices in line with GDPR and international standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a strategic data role within an agency, consultancy, or data‑led marketing environment.
- Track record of shaping data strategies focused on first‑party data utilisation and audience‑driven experiences.
- In‑depth understanding of identity resolution, data onboarding, CDPs, DMPs, and relevant technologies.
- Familiarity with proprietary and 3rd‑party ID solutions, as well as the broader AdTech ecosystem.
- Demonstrable expertise in data compliance, privacy regulations (esp. GDPR), and ethical data use.
- Experience of leading projects focused on personalisation, customer journey mapping, or audience segmentation at scale.
- Experience working with large datasets and big data tools (e.g. SQL, cloud databases etc.), both individually and in partnership with data scientists / data engineers.
- Strong commercial acumen with evidence of driving client growth through data activation programmes.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
