As an SEO Content Manager, you will own website content strategy and planning for one or more flagship accounts. Reporting to the SEO Director, you will blend editorial leadership with SEO expertiseâcrafting dataâdriven content roadmaps that meet EâEâAâT standards, satisfy Google's Helpful Content requirements, and deliver on KPIs for traffic, engagement, and conversions. You will shape topic clusters, pilot AIâassisted content workflows, and collaborate with SEO, Paid, and CRO teams to ensure our owned channels delight both users and search engines. You will manage a small team of Copywriters, oversee content production calendars, and champion best practices in onâpage optimisation, internal linking, and structured data. By monitoring performance through analytics tools, you will continuously refine your strategyâbalancing creative storytelling with precise, evidenceâbacked recommendations to keep our clients ahead of algorithm shifts and emerging content formats.
Responsibilities
- Content Strategy & Planning: Develop and own multiâquarter editorial calendars and topic cluster frameworks that align with client objectives, user intent, and search demand.
- EâEâAâT & Helpful Content Compliance: Establish and enforce guidelines for ExperienceâExpertiseâAuthorityâTrust signals and Google's Helpful Content standards across all assets.
- DataâDriven Ideation: Use analytics (GA4, Search Console, Keyword Planner) and SEO tools (Semrush, Ahrefs, Similarweb) to uncover highâimpact content opportunities, perform gap analyses, and prioritise initiatives.
- Team Leadership: Lineâmanage and mentor Copywriters, providing editorial guidance, SEO training, and performance feedback.
- CrossâChannel Collaboration: Partner with SEO Managers, Paid Search, Social, and CRO teams to integrate content into wider performance campaigns and test new formats (e.g., AIâdriven snippets, voice search optimisation).
- Content Production Oversight: Oversee briefs, ensure onâpage SEO best practices (metadata, headings, schema), and maintain quality through reviews and QA processes.
- Performance Measurement: Define KPIs, build dashboards, track metrics (organic traffic, dwell time, conversion rate), and deliver clientâready reports with actionable insights.
- Innovation: Pilot emerging content technologiesâAI drafting tools, dynamic content personalisation, interactive mediaâand scale successful experiments across accounts.
Qualifications
- Experience: Prior experience within content or SEO in an agency or inâhouse environment, with handsâon success driving organic growth via content.
- Editorial Expertise: Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with a keen eye for detail and fluency in adapting tone for diverse brands. A portfolio of work submitted with an application is preferable.
- SEO Proficiency: Deep understanding of onâpage optimisation, internal linking, structured data, and contentârelated ranking factors.
- Analytical Skills: Comfort with Google Analytics, Search Console, and SEO platforms, able to translate data into persuasive content strategies.
- Leadership: Proven ability to manage and develop a small editorial team, balancing creative coaching with SEO rigor.
- Collaboration: Strong communicator who thrives in crossâfunctional teams and can articulate content strategy to clients and stakeholders.
