Workshop Controller

Location: High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire

Salary: Up to £42,000 OTE/annum (Basic salary £30k-£32k)

5 day working week

We are recruiting for an experienced Workshop Controller to join our client’s franchised car dealership in High Wycombe. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with a background as a Senior Service Advisor or Lead Technician who is looking to step up into a leadership role.

About the Role

As a Workshop Controller, you will play a vital role in ensuring the seamless day-to-day running of the workshop. Key responsibilities include:

  • Team Leadership: Managing and motivating a team of technicians to achieve productivity, efficiency, and high-quality standards.
  • Workflow Management: Allocating work to technicians, ensuring jobs are completed on time and to the required standard.
  • Quality Control: Overseeing completed jobs, maintaining high standards of workmanship, and ensuring all vehicles leave the workshop in optimal condition.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Working closely with the front-of-house team to ensure clear communication with customers regarding repair updates, timelines, and costs.
  • Workshop Performance: Monitoring and analysing workshop KPIs, including productivity, utilisation, and efficiency, and implementing strategies for improvement.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensuring all workshop activities comply with company policies and legal requirements.

Applicant Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Previous experience as a Workshop Controller, Senior Service Advisor, or Lead Technician.
  • A strong understanding of workshop productivity and efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and team management skills.
  • A customer-focused mindset with the ability to liaise effectively between technicians and service advisors.
  • An NVQ qualification (or equivalent) in Motor Vehicle Maintenance is highly desirable.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
