About the role
- We’re looking for a forward-thinking Senior SEO Manager who understands search in today’s age of search.
It’s no longer just about rankings, it’s about optimising for generative engines, AI-driven discovery, and visibility across an expanding ecosystem of search surfaces.
- As a Senior SEO Manager at performance. io, you will shape the next era of organic performance by integrating traditional SEO, Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), AI-assisted content strategy, and LLM visibility frameworks into client roadmaps.
- You’ll work closely with our SEO Account Directors and senior team to ensure every account has a robust, future-ready strategic direction.
- You’ll thrive in a role where you can challenge convention, lead with curiosity, and help build the next generation of SEO practice in the health and technology sectors.
- What you’ll do
As a Senior SEO Manager, you will be the strategic lead for your accounts, typically the one of the more senior SEO’s guiding both internal teams and client stakeholders. You will:
- Own and deliver full-funnel organic strategies that combine classic SEO with GEO, AI-driven search experience optimisation, and structured data for generative models.
- Bring clarity to clients by presenting recommendations and AI-aligned strategies with confidence and storytelling impact.
- Help shape the evolution of PIO’s SEO + GEO frameworks, tools, and internal processes as our services advance into the generative search era.
- Oversee SEO Managers and coordinate with cross-functional teams across the UK, US, Japan, South Africa and India to deliver technically excellent, insight-driven work.
- Work hands-on when needed, across internal linking audits, site speed optimisations, information architecture, and AI-focused content evaluation.
- Educate the wider business on AI, E-E-A-T advancements, medical SEO, GEO, and emerging search behaviours across global healthcare markets.
- Attend regular client sessions to walk through technical recommendations, generative search performance insights, and strategic roadmaps.
Qualifications
- 4+ years in SEO, ideally within a digital agency environment.
- Strong experience leading SEO strategies, with exposure to international and multilingual search, including AI localisation considerations.
- Ability to manage day-to-day communications across multiple accounts, setting direction and maintaining high delivery quality.
- Expert user of GSC, GA4, GDS/Looker Studio, and comfortable interpreting AI-driven analytics signals (e. g., generative snippet visibility, LLM crawl behaviour, entity performance).
- Exceptional stakeholder management and confidence presenting high-impact recommendations.
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to quality-check deliverables for accuracy, compliance, and medical SEO standards.
- Organised, proactive, and comfortable collaborating with your counterparts in India.
