About us
We are Performance Communications – proudly employee-owned, one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work and the UK’s leading specialist agency in Automotive, Technology & Sports Brand Comms. We are 60 strong, creatively driven, and fuelled by a passion for storytelling that actually moves the needle for our clients. Whether it’s dreaming up big campaign ideas, unlocking media opportunities, building influencer buzz, or crafting stories that stand out on social – no two days here are ever the same. We are based in Kingston upon Thames and work hybrid: three days in-office, two from home.

About the role
We are looking for an AE with a passion for engineering, innovation, and technology to join Performance’s Auto Tech team – a small, collaborative, and collegiate team that works with some of the world’s leading suppliers of mobility and industrial technology. That includes hardware like engines, motors, transmissions, and batteries, along with the software and control systems that bring them all together to power machines and vehicles. We work with our client to get their messages over to audiences that are small, highly targeted, and specialists such as executives, engineers, policymakers, and investors. Our work involves translating highly complex ideas into accessible messages for top-tier business titles, trade publications, and owned client channels (think socials and blogs). We are looking for an AE who loves researching and writing about technical, engineering, and business topics, whether it be opinion pieces, press releases, or company blogs. Along with helping the team maintain account systems and processes, this new team member will be empowered from early on to build up their industry knowledge and writing skills. They will also be deeply involved in delivering high-impact media relations campaigns to secure coverage in top trade, national, and global outlets. If you want to join a rapidly-growing B2B-oriented team that’s all about curiosity, creativity, and continuous learning, then this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

What you will be doing

  • Long-form content writing: We write a lot. On the one hand, we spend a lot of our time ghostwriting for our clients in the press: opinion pieces, written Q&As, and letters to the editor (and that’s not to mention PR staples like press releases). On the other hand, we also write a lot for our clients to use internally or on their own channels: presentations, company blogs, or material for trade events and shows.
  • Media relations: Building real relationships with business, trade, and technology journalists, developing and distributing press releases, and pitching for briefing opportunities. Plus, proactively watching for interesting stories our clients could jump on.
  • Account management: Help with all day-to-day tasks that come with running a PR account—examples could include liaising with suppliers, sending call agendas and roundups to clients, managing team meetings, logging and reporting coverage, and developing briefing notes for journalist interviews.
  • Social and AV content development: Write copy for LinkedIn posts, develop briefs for imagery or video content, organise complex multimedia projects like brochures, and crafting newsletters and marketing material with clients.

What skills you will need

  • Ability to write clear, long-form arguments
  • Intellectual curiosity and an addiction to reading the news
  • Interest in technology, engineering, economics, and/or current affairs
  • Creativity and an eagerness to share new ideas
  • Eye for a strong editorial angle
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Fully computer literate in Microsoft packages

Why work with us
As an employee-owned business you become part of a bold, creative agency where your voice matters, your growth is nurtured, and your wellbeing is genuinely supported.
