About the Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with customs and import/export experience to play a key role in ensuring smooth and compliant movement of goods across borders. You'll work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment supporting operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage customs import, export, and cross-trade activities accurately and on time
  • Complete and review customs declarations and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with all financial, legal, and HMRC requirements
  • Monitor operational workflows and report discrepancies to management
  • Conduct spot checks on entries and provide weekly reports
  • Ensure correct duty/VAT calculations and invoicing within deadlines
  • Maintain strong communication with customers, internal teams, and sales
  • Support credit control with follow-ups on outstanding payments
  • Assist in improving operational efficiencies and customer workflows
  • Provide support and cover during holidays and absences
  • Ensure all activities align with internal SOPs and compliance standards

Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in customs, imports/exports, or compliance
  • Strong knowledge of UK & EU customs regulations and procedures
  • Experience using CDS (Customs Declaration Service)
  • Understanding of HMRC amendments and reclaims
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team
  • Flexibility to support occasional weekend work if required

Desirable:

  • Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or haulage
  • Knowledge of transit procedures and ETSF
