About the Opportunity
Perform Recruitment is delighted to partner with a growing international logistics organisation seeking a Customs Operations Coordinator to join their Heathrow-based team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with customs and import/export experience to play a key role in ensuring smooth and compliant movement of goods across borders. You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment supporting operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage customs import, export, and cross-trade activities accurately and on time
- Complete and review customs declarations and documentation
- Ensure compliance with all financial, legal, and HMRC requirements
- Monitor operational workflows and report discrepancies to management
- Conduct spot checks on entries and provide weekly reports
- Ensure correct duty/VAT calculations and invoicing within deadlines
- Maintain strong communication with customers, internal teams, and sales
- Support credit control with follow-ups on outstanding payments
- Assist in improving operational efficiencies and customer workflows
- Provide support and cover during holidays and absences
- Ensure all activities align with internal SOPs and compliance standards
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 2 years' experience in customs, imports/exports, or compliance
- Strong knowledge of UK & EU customs regulations and procedures
- Experience using CDS (Customs Declaration Service)
- Understanding of HMRC amendments and reclaims
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work both independently and within a team
- Flexibility to support occasional weekend work if required
Desirable:
- Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or haulage
- Knowledge of transit procedures and ETSF
