Position Summary

Our Sales Engineering leader for the Puppet team at Perforce is searching for an Associate Manager, Sales Engineering to join the team. The Associate Manager, Sales Engineering at Perforce operates as a player/coach, working within established company policies to ensure the effective utilization of resources for sales engineering projects. This role involves evaluating a variety of factors within the sales engineering domain and selecting appropriate methods and techniques to support the sales team. You will also be responsible for leading, training and mentoring a small team of sales engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multiple Account Executives managing existing customers and prospects, owning technical sales efforts within your accounts.
  • Conduct extensive discovery to understand customer's business objectives, use cases, workflows and architecture to effectively position the Puppet portfolio, highlighting solutions that align to their desired outcomes.
  • Customize and conduct presentations, demos, workshops, technical service plans and proof of concept (POC) trials connecting Puppet capabilities to customer business objectives and business value in a way that demonstrates significant ROI and blocks competitors.
  • Retain a competent level of knowledge and technical hands-on experience across Puppet's products, solutions and sales proposition.
  • Act as a liaison and internal champion for the customer within Puppet, collaborating with Marketing, Product, Support and Professional Services.
  • Educate customers on the value proposition Puppet provides and assist the customer to quantify that value at the technical, project, and LOB level.
  • Collaborate with customers to adopt or improve their configuration management process, implementing best practices and leveraging the capabilities of Puppet to expand their use cases.
  • Support Partners in technical enablement.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Sales Engineers.
  • Provide technical guidance, performance feedback, and career development support.
  • Support the sales team in complex, high-value deals by delivering technical presentations, product demos, proof-of-concepts, and RFP responses.
  • Act as a technical escalation point for SEs during customer engagements.
  • Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to relay customer feedback and influence roadmap decisions.
  • Continuously improve sales engineering processes, tooling, and methodologies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a technical pre-sales or solution engineering role, preferably in infrastructure automation software or DevOps.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a team lead or management capacity.
  • Fluency in French preferred.
  • Puppet knowledge is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices and tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Experience engaging with executive stakeholders, solution architects, and extended program teams.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging to varying stakeholder levels.
