Position Summary:

Chris Allen, Manager of Professional Services for the Puppet at Perforce, is searching for a Professional Services Engineer to join the team. We are looking for an individual who is a blend of DevOps Engineer, Client-facing Consultant, Puppet trainer, and Pre-Sales Engineer. It\’s a tremendous opportunity to be at the leading edge of automation trends and to see how companies in every industry approach automation or utilize our products.

Requirements:

  • Ability to manage time and projects effectively
  • Solid experience working with Puppet Enterprise or Puppet Open Source (Puppet 4 or more recent)
  • 5+ years of experience in software DevOps, Systems Administration, Automation, or Network Infrastructure
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically
  • Strong programming background with Unix &/or Linux SysAdmin or DevOps, including automation
  • Strong customer relations & presentation skills – able to speak well in front of an audience and with customers
  • Excitement about working with the Puppet Enterprise and Open-Source community
  • Passion for problem-solving
  • Excellent time and project management skills
  • Technical degree (CS/IT/Eng/ITSec) or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with clients and internal resources in face-to-face, telephone, and virtual meetings; able to work as part of a team
  • Logical reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of solutions and approaches
  • Puppet Certification is a plus
  • Preferred but not required: Programming skills (Ruby, Python, Go, etc.), Windows systems administration, large-scale infrastructure experience, knowledge of data center management, systems management, monitoring, networking & security, professional services experience in open-source/enterprise software

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with customers to design and implement solutions that improve software delivery speed and reliability
  • Deliver Puppet training and workshops
  • Assist in keeping training materials up-to-date
  • Provide pre-sales support to Sales & Marketing
  • Develop, publish, and maintain Puppet modules and products
  • Develop and promote integration and tooling around Puppet
  • Contribute blog posts and communication for Puppet
  • Collaborate with R&D and Product Management on Puppet products
