We are seeking a Product Change Mechanical Engineer to provide mechanical and opto-mechanical design support for a portfolio of advanced laser and high-tech products. This role focuses on engineering changes, production support, and design improvements, working closely with operations, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and execute engineering changes including obsolescence, supplier updates, and quality-driven modifications
- Support production and operations as the primary contact for released products
- Maintain and control BOMs, drawings, and specifications in line with engineering changes
- Apply 3D CAD (SolidWorks) to modify designs and create detailed drawings
- Support design improvements using FEA, thermal analysis, or fluid dynamics (beneficial)
Requirements
- Experience in mechanical design for assembly, manufacture, and reliability
- Material selection and tolerance definition for sheet metal and machined parts
- Experience working with external suppliers to implement design changes
- Degree or Masters in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent apprenticeship
- 3D CAD experience, ideally SolidWorks
Preferred
- 6+ years supporting complex engineered products throughout the lifecycle
- Electro-mechanical design experience, including PCB, cabling, and thermal management
- Familiarity with fibre optics, lasers, or high-tech industrial products
- Experience with DDM/PLM systems for change control
