Sous Chef
Location – Rufford, Ormskirk area
Salary – £36,000 + bonus & tips
Hours – Full time, 40–45 hours per week
Shift Pattern – Straight shifts, with splits on quieter days
Perfect Recruitment are currently working with a well-established, highly regarded food-led venue in the Rufford / Ormskirk area who are looking to appoint an experienced Sous Chef to join their kitchen team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a strong Sous Chef who is passionate about quality, fresh food and wants to work in a kitchen where seasonal menus, local produce and high standards are genuinely at the heart of what they do.
The Role
Working closely with the Head Chef, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, helping to maintain consistently high standards across food quality, service and kitchen operations.
You’ll be involved in:
- Supporting and leading the kitchen team during service
- Maintaining consistently high standards of food preparation, cooking and presentation
- Working with fresh, seasonal produce and quality ingredients
- Supporting menu development and seasonal changes
- Managing stock levels, ordering and reducing waste
- Monitoring GP, portion control and food costs
- Ensuring dishes are consistently plated and presented to a high standard
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and kitchen standards
- Training, mentoring and developing junior members of the team
- Working closely with the Head Chef to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations
About You
We’re looking for an experienced Sous Chef with a genuine fresh food and quality-led background.
You’ll ideally have:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or strong Senior CDP ready to take the next step
- Experience working within quality, fresh food-led kitchens
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations and service
- A good understanding of GPs, stock control, portion control and food costs
- Experience with menu development and seasonal produce
- Strong plating and presentation skills
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- A stable employment history and a good level of longevity in previous roles
- The ability to lead by example and maintain high standards during busy services
- A genuine passion for food and delivering an excellent customer experience
