Perfect Personnel are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter for our client based between Cheltenham and Tewkesbury. A variety of soft skills and experience may be required for the following role. Please ensure you check the overview below carefully.
Full-time, permanent (40hrs per week + O/T) £15.00-£17.50 per hour (depending on skills and experience also O/T at 1.5x basic rate).
Location: based at our offices between Cheltenham and Tewkesbury, with ad-hoc onsite work at our customer sites in the UK and North America. You will be required to travel approx. 30-40%.
Normal Hours: 40 hours per week Monday-Thursday 08.00 to 17.00 (with 30-minute unpaid lunch break) Friday 08.00 to 14.00.
Our client specialises in the design, build and installation of bespoke control systems, factory automation systems including manufacturing process and packaging machinery, conveyors, robotics and vision inspection. Their factory is just outside Winchcombe in North Gloucestershire.
We’re looking to appoint an additional mechanical fitter to join our mechanical build and installation team. In this role, you will be bringing our customers’ automation aspirations to life, working across a variety of industry sectors (predominantly in food and beverage and plastic container handling) and working on some truly ground-breaking projects.
The role: You will be required to work both in-house reporting to the workshop manager and on customers’ sites, reporting to the services director, where you will be responsible for the mechanical assembly of automation machinery and sub-assemblies (think giant Meccano). You’ll be comfortable working from engineering drawings, ensuring all projects are delivered to the highest possible standards and in a timely fashion.
A lot of what we do is typically bespoke to our customers and to date there’s not been an automation challenge we’ve not been able to support or that we have walked away from. Our diverse project portfolio means there’s no standard production lines or builds, which is why we only employ ‘solutioneers’. You’ll work on single machine builds through to complete automation lines, seeing projects through from build in our workshops through to dismantling and then assembly on the customer’s site.
Client base - We have customers across the UK and Ireland, Canada, and USA. Travel can be unpredictable due to the nature of our projects, and can involve stays overseas of up to 3 weeks at a time, which will involve weekend working (typically Saturdays only). You can be assured though, that you’re paid travel time, overtime at 1.5x (over 40 hours), great accommodation, and living expenses while you’re away.
Bonus skill but not essential: Being capable of installing control panels and making basic wiring adjustments.
Your skills & experience:
- Be able to interpret engineering drawings (mechanical a must, electrical a plus).
- Have sound experience of machine assembly.
- To build assemblies and sub-assemblies.
- To build electrical and pneumatic systems.
- Using general hand tools and power tools as required.
- Be hard working and a great ambassador for the company.
- Be a team player and have a great attitude.
