Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Coded Welder to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out high-quality welding and fabrication work to approved welding procedures and industry standards. This role requires extensive experience working with a variety of materials, welding processes, and complex engineering drawings within demanding industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding operations in accordance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
- Carry out MMA (Stick), MIG, MAG, TIG, and FCAW welding processes as required.
- Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, and other specialist materials.
- Read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, fabrication plans, and technical specifications.
- Complete structural, pipework, pressure vessel, and heavy fabrication welding tasks.
- Conduct visual inspections and ensure weld quality meets project and industry standards.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship and productivity.
- Operate welding and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform repairs, modifications, and maintenance welding on existing structures and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
- Support fabrication, fitting, and assembly activities when required.
- Assist with weld testing and quality assurance procedures, including NDT requirements.
- Complete all relevant documentation accurately and on time.
Essential Requirements
- Valid welding codings/certifications to recognised standards (e.g., ASME IX, BS EN ISO 9606, AWS D1.1).
- Minimum 10 years' experience as a coded welder in industrial, construction, oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, marine, or manufacturing sectors.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality welds in multiple welding positions.
- Extensive knowledge of welding procedures, metallurgy, and fabrication techniques.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Experience working with pressure systems, structural steelwork, and pipework installations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Excellent safety awareness and knowledge of industry regulations.
Desirable Qualifications
- CSCS, CCNSG Safety Passport, or equivalent site safety certification.
- Confined Space and Working at Height certification.
- Overhead Crane, MEWP, or Forklift certification.
- NDT awareness or inspection experience.
- Apprenticeship in Welding and Fabrication Engineering or equivalent vocational qualification.
