A well-established London insurance business is hiring an Infrastructure Specialist into its core IT team – a genuine 3rd/4th line role with real technical depth and a clear move towards DevOps practices.
What you'll be working with:
- A primarily AWS estate, with workloads actively migrating into Azure
- VMware virtualisation across the environment
- Windows Server and Linux operating systems
- A growing DevOps toolset – Terraform, Ansible, and scripting (Python, PowerShell, YAML)
- Some upgrade project work alongside BAU: SQL Server 2016→2019 upgrade and a Windows Server 2016 migration ahead of end-of-life
What makes this one different:
This team wants a proactive engineer, not a ticket-clearer. You'll be given the room to develop processes and automation that measurably reduce the team's workload – and the impact you make will be visible. Strong communication matters just as much as the tech, as you'll collaborate closely with stakeholders and other support teams over Teams.
The practicalities:
- London-based, but only around 4 days a month on-site
- Paid On-call commitment of roughly 1 week in 10
- Permanent role within a stable, well-resourced IT function
What we're looking for:
- Strong VMware and Windows Server experience
- Solid AWS (and ideally Azure) cloud exposure
- A real automation/DevOps mindset with scripting ability
- Excellent communication and a proactive, ownership-driven approach
Desirable:
- Linux
- SQL Server
- Pure Storage
- Cisco UCS
- Veeam/CommVault
If this sounds like your kind of environment, apply now or get in touch for a confidential conversation.
