Who this role is for

If you thrive in a varied, people-focused role where no two days are the same, this is a fantastic opportunity to become the operational heartbeat of a growing, high-performing business. Instead of being stuck doing just one repetitive task, you will be the central pivot connecting our teams, driving our culture through exciting socials, and owning the smooth day-to-day running of our Manchester office. We offer a supportive, collaborative environment where your organisational skills will be genuinely valued, your ideas for improving systems will be heard, and you can truly make the role your own.

Role Overview

As the Office Manager, you will serve as the operational anchor of the business based out of the Manchester office. You will ensure that the internal teams stay closely connected, the office environment runs like clockwork, and anyone reaching out receives a professional first impression from the moment they call. This is a broad, hands-on role that blends internal coordination, basic administrative HR support, financial tracking (invoices and credit control), and efficient call handling. While you will work closely with people operations, you will not be the dedicated HR lead, instead, you’ll be the essential on-the-ground facilitator for team processes, systems hygiene, and engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Connection & Culture: Act as the central connector across departments, ensuring smooth communication and alignment between leadership, consultants, and support functions within the Manchester office. Plan, organise, and coordinate engaging team outings, social events, and company get-togethers to maintain the vibrant, collaborative culture. Be a friendly, accessible point of contact for internal team queries, helping colleagues navigate day-to-day operational questions or directing them to the right resources.
  • Operations & Administration: Call Handling & Triage: Manage incoming telephone inquiries professionally, screening and triaging calls to ensure they reach the correct team member efficiently. System Hygiene: Maintain internal databases, CRM systems, and operational tools, ensuring all client and operational data is kept clean, accurate, and up-to-date. Oversee general office management and administrative duties, ensuring the physical workspace and digital resources run smoothly.
  • Finance & Billing Support: Coordinate the generation and timely dispatch of customer and client invoices. Proactively track and chase outstanding payments, handling credit control with a firm yet professional approach to maintain healthy cash flow. Liaise with financial stakeholders regarding billing queries and accounts paperwork.
  • HR Support (Non-HR Lead): Assist with foundational people operations processes (e.g., coordinating interview schedules, managing onboarding checklists for new starters, and gathering initial documentation). Act as the local administrative helper for internal HR tasks, while escalating strategic or complex employee relations matters appropriately.

About You

  • Organised & Proactive: You naturally spot administrative gaps, love keeping databases clean, and take pride in keeping things running efficiently without needing constant oversight.
  • A People Person: You possess exceptional communication skills, enjoy bringing teams together, and are confident managing both inbound telephone traffic and internal relationships.
  • Financially Savvy: You have solid experience handling basic billing workflows, particularly generating invoices and chasing payments.
  • Adaptable: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing consulting and client-facing environment where no two days are the same.
  • Tech-Literate: Quick to pick up internal databases, CRMs, and communication tools.

About the Organisation

An independent specialist consultancy helps senior business leaders navigate complex technology, communications, and customer experience transformations. The company prides itself on delivering impartial, expert advice and exceptional service, helping clients avoid costly missteps and build robust, modern infrastructures.

What on Offer

  • Salary: £30,000 basic per annum.
  • A collaborative, transparent, and supportive team culture where your contributions directly support our continued growth.
  • Opportunities for professional development as the business scales.
