Are you an experienced Pre-Sales Consultant or Solutions Architect looking to step into a high-impact, governance-focused design role?

Perfect Path Recruitment is partnering with a market-leading UK Cloud Communications & Managed Service Provider to secure an ambitious Technical Design Architect (TDA).

Whether you currently operate as a Pre-Sales Specialist or a Solutions Architect, this position is tailored specifically to your skill set.

It offers a premier opportunity to leverage your deep expertise in Zoom (UCaa S or CCaa S) to own high-level solution designs and drive enterprise deals across the line.

If you excel in customer discovery, solution validation, and translating business goals into robust technical architectures without getting bogged down in post-sales engineering, this is your ideal next step.

Candidates with a background in hands-on engineering will hold a distinct advantage, though strong pre-sales architecture and solution design experience remains the primary requirement.

  • Key Details & Compensation
  • Base Salary: £40,000 – £65,000 (commensurate with experience)
  • Earning Potential: Uncapped commission plan paying 1% of 1st year Gross Profit (GP), with average order values driving £30k–£100k GP per deal
  • Working Pattern: Chorley base with flexible working options—choose between a traditional hybrid schedule or remote working with just 2 office days per month
  • Reporting Line: Head of Unified Communications

Why Join?

  • Strategic Focus: Focus purely on the client-facing, pre-sales architecture side of technical design rather than post-sales engineering delivery.
  • Commercial Impact: Directly influence win rates and top-line growth while earning uncapped commission on the gross profit you help secure.
  • Vendor Ownership: Act as the internal and client-facing technical authority for cutting-edge Zoom UCaa S and CCaa S stack deployments.
  • Core Responsibilities
  • Pre-Sales Leadership: Lead technical discovery workshops, validate complex solution feasibility, and own High-Level Designs (HLDs) throughout the pre-sales cycle.
  • Commercial & Risk Governance: Protect deal margins and prevent scope creep by meticulously scoping licensing, hardware, vendor choices, and professional services volumes.
  • Design Approval: Oversee and approve Low-Level Designs (LLDs) produced by delivery engineering teams, establishing clear boundaries of technical accountability.
  • Vendor & Service

Transition: Serve as the 4th-line technical escalation point, manage vendor relationships (specifically Zoom), and lead smooth handovers to delivery and support functions.

Requirements & Experience

  • Ideal Candidates: Proven background as a Pre-Sales Consultant, Pre-Sales Engineer, or Solutions Architect within B2B Telecoms or Cloud Communications.
  • Platform Mastery: Strong current or recent experience with Zoom (UCaa S and/or CCaa S) platforms. Knowledge of Mitel is beneficial.
  • Engineering Background (Bonus): Prior hands-on engineering or deployment experience is an advantage, but your main focus must be pre-sales solution design and governance.
  • Commercial Acumen: Clear understanding of how to balance technical complexity with margin preservation and commercial risk management.
  • Client Engagement: Outstanding communication skills, capable of commanding technical authority and building trust with both technical teams and C-suite decision-makers

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Perfect Path Recruitment uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
