Perfect Household Staff is proud to present a remarkable opportunity for a professional and experienced house manager to join a distinguished private household in Central Birmingham. The position is based in a spacious, well-appointed residence situated within a beautiful 10-acre estate. This is a live-in, full-time, permanent role offering long-term stability and the opportunity to work within a well-structured household under the care of a kind and respectful elderly principal.
The principal is an elderly lady who is seeking a calm, well-mannered, and respectful professional. The ideal candidate will be well-spoken, diplomatic, assertive, and hands-on, with excellent communication skills and an understanding approach. A personable demeanour and the ability to act with tact and discretion are essential for this role.
The residence comprises two floors, six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, six reception areas, a swimming pool, a tennis court, and a home gym. The successful house manager will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the property, supporting the existing team, which includes a full-time housekeeper and a groundsman. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of household management including schedules, appointments, staff coordination, and maintenance works.
Accommodation is provided in a private one-bedroom flat located within the main house but with its own separate entrance. The flat is self-contained and includes a kitchen, sitting room, bathroom, and bedroom. Candidates with well-behaved pets are welcome, and after several months of employment, the occasional guest may be welcomed with prior arrangement.
A clean UK driving licence is essential for this role. An automatic vehicle will be provided for work-related duties, such as transporting the principal to appointments and running errands. The employer offers formal employment with 20 days of paid holiday in addition to bank holidays. Any overtime worked will be either compensated with additional pay or time off in lieu, depending on the candidate\’s preference.

Main duties of the Full-time House Manager:

  • Day-to-day household management and staff supervision

  • Diary and schedule management

  • Supporting the housekeeper with light cooking duties when required
  • Pantry organisation and occasional silver polishing
  • Seasonal project management (e.g. garden support during summer)
  • Inventory management and stock control
