Perfect Household Staff are proud to be assisting a distinguished lady in Oxford in her search for an experienced and highly professional Butler / House Manager. The principal maintains an elegant private residence in the historic city of Oxford and also owns several properties internationally. Known for its rich cultural heritage, prestigious university, and excellent amenities, Oxford offers a charming mix of tradition and modernity, making it a wonderful location to work. The role is live-in, with accommodation provided in a private cottage on the estate, offering both comfort and privacy in a picturesque setting.
As the Butler / House Manager, you will be responsible for the seamless running of the principal's Oxford residence. Duties include general household management, butler responsibilities, overseeing and liaising with other household staff including the PA and Private Chef, a Cleaner, and ensuring the highest level of service is consistently maintained. The ideal candidate will be proactive, highly organised, and exhibit excellent communication skills, while also being pet friendly, as the principal has pets on the property (cat & small dog).

Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the daily operations of the household
- Providing traditional butler service including greeting guests, setting tables, and serving meals and drinks
- Liaising and coordinating with the Private PA and Chef to ensure the principal's schedule and needs are met
- Supervising other domestic staff when required
- Maintaining household inventories and managing stock levels
- Ensuring the home is presented to the highest standard at all times
- Acting as the point of contact for suppliers and contractors
- Handling special requests and errands with complete discretion and confidentiality
- Driving the principal on occasion (bonus)
Duties Typically Required of a Butler / House Manager:
- Wardrobe management and care of fine garments
- Valeting duties
- Overseeing household budgets and accounts
- Assistance with packing and unpacking suitcases
- Providing support during events or dinner parties
- Managing security protocols and ensuring safety at the property
- Taking care of the principal's pets when required
Minimal Requirements:
- A minimum of five years of Butler / House Manager experience in a similar role
- Excellent, checkable references from previous employers
- Conversational level of English
- UK working permit
