The Role
The ESG Reporting Officer will play a key role in supporting the development and implementation of Perenco’s ESG framework with a focus on robust reporting, regulatory compliance and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and various departments and business units across the group to monitor, track and communicate progress against the Company’s ESG objectives and performance, ensuring consistent and effective ESG practices across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation, development and periodic review of the Company's ESG strategy, priorities and objectives.
- Monitor progress against ESG targets identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and enhanced performance.
- Contribute to the integration of ESG considerations into business processes, and decision-making, working collaboratively with relevant functions to embed ESG factors into strategic planning, policies, operations and investment or business decisions, as appropriate.
ESG Reporting and Data Management
- Oversee and coordinate the collection, validation, and consolidation of ESG data across business units working closely with business unit heads to ensure clear ownership and accountability.
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of ESG data and performance indicators, supported by robust data controls, methodologies and validation processes.
- Prepare internal and external sustainability reports in accordance with applicable reporting frameworks, standards and disclosure requirements.
- Support external assurance processes for ESG disclosures by coordinating/providing data, documentation and responses to assurance requests.
Regulatory Compliance
- Monitor developments in ESG regulations, standards and reporting requirements, including EU CSRD, and assess their implications for the company.
- Support compliance with applicable ESG regulatory and reporting obligations, ensuring requirements are appropriately incorporated into relevant processes and disclosures.
- Undertake analysis of similar companies to assess and benchmark ESG positioning whilst identifying best practice to meet industry standards.
- Maintain and update ESG-related policies, procedures, and reporting documentation to reflect regulatory developments and evolving best practices.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate responses to ESG related information requests from both internal and external stakeholders.
- Support ESG awareness and engagement across the business to strengthen understanding of the companies ESG priorities, commitments and responsibilities.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and supporting the delivery of the company’s ESG objectives.
Governance
- Support the implementation of ESG governance frameworks and processes.
- Prepare clear and concise ESG reports and presentations for senior management and governance committees highlighting key performance, progress, risks and areas requiring attention.
Qualifications & Skills
The requirements for this role include:
- A bachelors or masters degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Finance, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in ESG, sustainability, risk management, or corporate reporting.
- Familiarity with internationally recognised ESG reporting frameworks and standards such as GRI, ISSB, CSRD/ESRS, TCFD, or SASB
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and cultures, with strong stakeholder and relationship building skills.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills with the ability communicate complex ESG topics clearly and effectively to different audiences.
- Fluent in both English and French is mandatory
