The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
This is a great opportunity to be an integral part of our team at Dimlington Terminal. The successful applicant will have overall responsibility for the safe control of work activities including the issue of all permits. This role will operate on an equal time rotation of 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off, 12 hour shifts, days only.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all work at the terminal is completed in compliance with the Control of Work Procedure and SEMS, including:
- Co-operates with the Performing Authority (PA) to plan the work activity, ensuring all hazards and controls have been identified.
- Verifies Work Control Card (WCC) to ensure the corrective level of Task Risk Assessments (TRA) has been selected and the TRA is suitable.
- Verifies the PA has visited the worksite, understands the scope of work, hazards and controls prior to issuing and making live a WCC.
- Verifies any related isolation is in place, verified, and isolation integrity demonstrated to the PA before making a WCC go live.
- Ensures that all prerequisite control measures are in place prior to issuing a WCC.
- Communicates with Affected AAs where the work activity affects another AA area of control.
- Conducts audits (in accordance with the site assurance plan) to verify the effectiveness of workplace controls, identify gaps, assess risks and ensure operational integrity.
- Approve isolation design, control isolation implementation and ensure the isolation is in place prior to allowing an associated Permit to go live.
- Ensure isolation is removed after completion of the Permit.
- Maintain a register of all competent PAs, keeping it up to date and available for review.
- Maintain the Long-term Isolations Register and carry out audits as specified in Guidance in Practice for Safe Isolation and Reinstatement of Plant.
- Validate lessons learned and review completed isolation and permit audits.
- Ensure actions raised are closed out in a timely manner.
- Carry out / ensure gas tests are completed prior to permit issues by a competent Authorised Gas Tester where applicable.
- Demonstrate detailed knowledge of key SEMS documents and procedures.
- Ensure adequate handovers take place at shift change, crew change or other change out of AAs, PAs and IAs.
- Actively participate in incident investigations and lead / assist teams on determining root cause and suitable preventative measures.
Environmental & Safety responsibilities (illustrative)
- Environmental: Identifying and managing environmental hazards in Task Risk Assessments and operating controls per SEMS; respond to unplanned events with environmental consequences; competence in environmental responsibilities.
- Emergency Response: Member of the emergency control team as appropriate; participate in emergency response exercises to be fully conversant with procedures.
- Safety Critical Tasks: SSOW Competency Checklist; responsibility for safe control of work activities within designated area.
- SIRP Isolations: Demonstrate underpinning knowledge of Safe Isolation and Reinstatement of Plant.
- SIRP Leak Testing: Demonstration of underpinning knowledge of leak testing in relation to SIRP.
- Safety & Environmentally Critical Courses: Authorised Gas Tester; Confined Space Entry; Radiation Protection Supervisor.
Qualifications / Experience
- We are looking for an individual who has completed a time served trade apprenticeship.
- Knowledge of the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical Industry.
- Strong technical background qualified to a minimum of HNC or equivalent.
- Knowledge / skills of:
- SIRP (Safe Isolation and Reinstatement of Plant)
- PTW (Permit to Work / Safe System of Work)
- Process Safety ORA (Operational Risk Assessment)
