Key Responsibilities:
- Leads the development of security focused architectures for complex engineering solutions, designing to agreed requirements and ensuring consistency of design and adherence to appropriate standards across multiple projects or initiatives.
- Establishes policies, principles and practices for the selection of security architecture components.
- Takes responsibility for major aspects of security control specification, standards, technologies and overall secure design models within the engineering domain.
- Produces security focused design policies, principles and criteria covering connectivity, interfacing, resilience, recovery and access.
- Provides definitive and expert advice in the specialist area of engineering into other cyber security activities, such as incident response.
- Develops secure architecture patterns for emerging technologies within the engineering domain, in line with safety, integrity and availability requirements.
- Acts as a single point of contact for senior stakeholders and influencers for cyber security architecture activities within the engineering space.
- Initiates procedures to manage security risk in accordance with business security risk appetite, recommending designs and security architectural changes that aid in risk mitigation to senior stakeholders.
- Maintains a broad understanding of the external security environment and applies this within the role.
- Coordinates the promotion, development, acquisition and implementation of security controls and services in close liaison with those responsible for management and strategy.
- Ensures system compliance with the internal standards and leverages other appropriate industry standard frameworks for support.
- Plans and delivers related security architectural activities in support of organisational and security development needs in accordance with regulatory requirements and changes in the threat landscape.
- Takes responsibility for major aspects of security specification and design within the engineering domain.
- Reports on, and analyses the cyber security metrics and KPIs gathered across the engineering domain.
- Develops plans, policies and processes and looks for continued service improvement opportunities through regular reviews of existing material within engineering.
- Maintains a strong relationship with key senior points of contact throughout the business.
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Establishes and maintain relationships with business leaders and key functional stakeholders.
- Is responsible for ensuring the Health & Safety of all your employees and that your area operates in accordance with Company Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Provides an interface between the business and function, ensuring alignment to key activities within the space of engineering.
- Ensures that security architecture strategies, policies, standards and practices are applied currently to the engineering domain.
- Influences local organisation, customers, supplier, partners and peers.
- Applies technical strategies, policies, standards and practices within own area of responsibility.
- Takes on a lead role; owns specific work areas and directs others.
- Has a detailed understanding of security architecture and engineering and will work on the most complex issues with no need for supervision or support.
- Will lead work groups to resolve issues over a more extended period (weeks/months) and will carry out resource and milestone planning.
- Will support the development of future security architecture and engineering capabilities.
- Will work regularly with senior customer and supplier stakeholders and will be authoritative in such interactions.
Requirements:
- An understanding of emerging cyber requirements and cyber security threats.
- A broad and comprehensive technical knowledge of IT infrastructure and technologies, with a demonstrable specialism in Operational Technology and engineering systems.
- Excellent understanding of government and industry standard security policy, standards and best practice guidance
- Experience of working in an IT function and relevant field
- Experience defining and delivering secure architecture for systems and services
- Experience in designing secure solutions with safety in mind
- Experience in the management and delivery of key cyber security projects
- Experience of collaborating for success with key business stakeholders.
- Experience managing, controlling and reporting project deliverables to senior management audiences.
- Experience in people management.
Desirable:
- ?Professional IT Security qualifications such as Certified Information Security Manager
- (CISM) / Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP).
- Desirable: Professional Architecture qualifications such as TOGAF Practitioner / MODAF / DoDAF.
- Desirable: Chartered Engineer status (CEng)
