We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Business Analyst to join our agile delivery teams. In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders to gather, analyse, and manage requirements to support the successful delivery of business solutions. You will act as a key liaison between business users and technical teams, ensuring clear understanding and traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Requirements gathering and management: Elicit and document clear, concise, and actionable business and technical requirements through interviews, workshops, observation, and document analysis.
- Requirements analysis and prioritisation: Analyse, evaluate, and prioritise requirements based on business value, feasibility, and stakeholder input to support product and project goals. JIRA tickets are linked to requirement tickets – signed off when completed applied to the right teams and requirement owners of roles.
- Documentation and traceability: Maintain high-quality documentation including business requirements documents (BRDs), user stories, use cases, process flows, and traceability matrices to ensure end-to-end coverage.
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams: Work closely with product owners, developers, QA engineers, and UX designers within agile teams to ensure that solutions meet business needs and technical constraints.
- Agile participation: Contribute to agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, supporting continuous delivery and iterative improvement.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field. (Preferred)
- 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, working in tech teams.
- Proven experience working in Agile environments and product teams (Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe) gathering requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar project management and documentation tools.
- Support developers on clarification of requirements as well as backlog traceability.
- Certification in Business Analysis (e.g., BCS or PMBOK).
- Experience in Defence.
- Familiarity with data analysis, reporting tools, or SQL is a plus.
This role is interfacing with a lot of technical teams, platforms and data. Plus alignment with Digital Business & Digital Engineering teams. We do need someone who can attend onsite meetings in Reading as required, as well as occasional travel to Lancashire. It is a busy, complex and changing environment which will be highly rewarding for the right person.
