The Role: We are seeking a Test Engineer who will support a large public sector organisation in the delivery of a major digital transformation. As part of the Peregrine team, you will be responsible for testing applications which support services and collaborate with delivery teams, including both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Review requirements and specifications.
- Define test conditions, create test scripts for both manual and automation execution using test tooling solutions e.g. Playwright.
- Raise and manage defects and help prioritise them based on defect priority and severity using defect management tools e.g. JIRA.
- Collaboratively work together to ensure products are accessibility compliant and meet departmental standards.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain test plans, test scripts, and test reports.
- Ensure software meets user requirements and performance expectations.
- Experience testing within an agile environment with a proven track record of producing, maintaining comprehensive robust and reliable test automation scripts in a CICD environment from business requirements, documenting defects & highlighting risk, offering solutions and monitoring through to resolution.
- Reviewing requirements, defining test conditions, and creating manual and automated test scripts using tools like Playwright.
- Has a strong understanding of CICD approaches and tooling in AWS and Git.
- Be a proactive self-starter and able to work remotely with minimal instructions/supervision.
- Able to analyse a situation to identify what is required to ensure UIs and APIs are tested successfully including Non-functional testing.
- Be capable of working comfortably with technical and specialist stakeholders and act as a facilitator to elicit information from them which may need escalating.
- Mentoring testers and promoting best practices in testing and quality assurance.
Skills & Experience:
- Extensive Testing Experience: Strong background in software testing across the full development lifecycle, with a deep understanding of both manual and automated testing practices.
- Leadership in Quality Assurance: Experience leading testing efforts within agile teams, setting quality standards, and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality outcomes.
- Test Planning & Oversight: Ability to plan, coordinate, and oversee testing activities across multiple projects or workstreams, ensuring alignment with delivery timelines and business goals.
- Collaboration & Communication: Proven ability to work closely with developers, product owners, and business analysts to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and advocate for quality.
- Understanding of infrastructure as code, containerised solutions and secure data handling, including encryption concepts.
