We're looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join a highly skilled engineering team delivering and supporting business-critical platforms within a secure, enterprise environment.
You'll play a key role in designing, building and maintaining resilient infrastructure, driving automation across the software delivery lifecycle and ensuring production services remain secure, stable and highly available. Working as part of an Agile delivery team, you'll collaborate closely with architects, developers and infrastructure specialists while providing technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers.
This role offers the opportunity to work with modern DevOps tooling, cloud technologies and container platforms, helping shape engineering best practice across a complex technical estate.
Responsibilities:- Design, build, support and continuously improve enterprise DevOps platforms and services.
- Maintain highly available production environments and support business-critical applications.
- Drive Infrastructure as Code, automation and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) best practices.
- Develop and maintain Kubernetes/OpenShift container platforms.
- Build, maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Terraform.
- Monitor platform health using observability tools including Splunk, ELK, Prometheus and Grafana.
- Support production releases, deployments and incident resolution.
- Participate in an out-of-hours on-call support rota.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects and Engineering teams to deliver scalable technical solutions.
- Coach and mentor engineers, sharing knowledge and promoting DevOps best practice.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, standards and operational procedures.
- Contribute to technology roadmaps and continuous service improvement initiatives.
- Strong commercial experience as a DevOps Engineer supporting enterprise production environments.
- Experience administering Linux platforms.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift.
- Strong Terraform experience implementing Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
- Experience working with cloud technologies (Azure, AWS or GCP).
- Knowledge of containerisation technologies and modern deployment practices.
- Experience using monitoring and observability platforms such as Splunk, ELK, Prometheus and Grafana.
- Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies.
- Experience supporting live production systems, deployments and incident management.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical teams.
- Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership.
- Eligible for, or currently holding, SC Clearance.
- Experience within highly regulated or enterprise-scale environments.
- Red Hat, Microsoft, Oracle or other relevant technical certifications.
- Experience with OpenShift in production environments.
- Understanding of security best practices within DevOps environments.
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
