To competently carry out inspection and verification of electronic assemblies, harnesses, and PCB builds in accordance with IPC standards, ensuring that all products meet defined quality and customer requirements.

Accountabilities

  • Perform inspection of electronic components, assemblies, and wiring harnesses to IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
  • Verify conformance of soldering, crimping, and assembly workmanship to drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Conduct first-off, in-process, and final inspections on both prototype and production builds.
  • Ensure no non-conforming products are released to customers.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed inspection records and traceability documentation.
  • Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and FAIR reporting activities.
  • Identify and report quality issues, participating in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Assist in maintaining calibration control of inspection and measurement equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to improve build quality and process consistency.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities aimed at achieving zero defects. Maintain a clean, safe, and organised inspection area in accordance with 5S standards.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO9001 quality management system procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • IPC-A-610 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 certified (mandatory).
  • Skills and experience to meet Class 3 requirements in accordance with IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, and IPC-7711/7721.
  • Extensive experience in visual inspection of electronic assemblies and wiring harnesses.
  • Strong understanding of electronic drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly documentation.
  • Proficiency with manual inspection tools (e.g., microscopes, magnifiers, multimeters, continuity testers).
  • Good understanding of ESD precautions and handling requirements.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently under minimal supervision.
  • High attention to detail and quality awareness.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Competent in using PCs for documentation and quality reporting.
  • Experience in a high-technology or aerospace/defence manufacturing environment desirable.
  • Good GCSE grades or equivalent in English and Maths.
