- Accountabilities
- Perform inspection of electronic components, assemblies, and wiring harnesses to IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
- Verify conformance of soldering, crimping, and assembly workmanship to drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Conduct first-off, in-process, and final inspections on both prototype and production builds.
- Ensure no non-conforming products are released to customers.
- Prepare and maintain detailed inspection records and traceability documentation.
- Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and FAIR reporting activities.
- Identify and report quality issues, participating in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Assist in maintaining calibration control of inspection and measurement equipment.
- Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to improve build quality and process consistency.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities aimed at achieving zero defects. Maintain a clean, safe, and organised inspection area in accordance with 5S standards.
- Ensure compliance with ISO9001 quality management system procedures.
- Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- IPC-A-610 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 certified (mandatory).
- Skills and experience to meet Class 3 requirements in accordance with IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, and IPC-7711/7721.
- Extensive experience in visual inspection of electronic assemblies and wiring harnesses.
- Strong understanding of electronic drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly documentation.
- Proficiency with manual inspection tools (e. g., microscopes, magnifiers, multimeters, continuity testers).
- Good understanding of ESD precautions and handling requirements.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently under minimal supervision.
- High attention to detail and quality awareness.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Competent in using PCs for documentation and quality reporting.
- Experience in a high-technology or aerospace/defence manufacturing environment desirable.
- Good GCSE grades or equivalent in English and Maths.
