The predicted salary is between 28800 - 48000 £ per year.

We are looking for an engineer that is responsible for the day to day management of projects and tasks, with moderate supervision, to ensure the project is delivered within agreed budget and programme. This includes communicating with the client, other consultants and colleagues to ensure a brief is agreed and adhered to in the delivery of the projects, whilst maintaining a positive client relationship.

Responsibilities of the Role

  • Execute and coordinate projects, providing technical design ‘best practice’
  • Produce technical design information including drawings, calculations, specifications and reports
  • Assist with reviewing and checking designs and drawings prepared by graduate engineers
  • Assist with planning site investigation works
  • Assist with the preparation of feasibility studies and provide design advice
  • Assist with the preparation of design reports and progress reports
  • Obtain and review quotes for investigation works
  • Manage the appointments and work of sub-contractors carrying out investigation works
  • Attend and input at design meetings and site meetings, and record actions
  • Undertake site inspections and record findings, and advise on any required actions
  • Undertake surveys and prepare reports
  • Produce designs, assessments and calculations in accordance with quality procedures
  • Liaise effectively with clients, local authorities and other design team members
  • Implement the use of computer-based systems to improve efficiency
  • Support junior members of the team
  • Effectively manage own time and expenditure on tasks
  • Understand and adhere to existing working practices, methods and procedures
  • Adopt ‘best practice’
  • Proactive in self-development
  • Deliver agreed business development targets
  • Assist the marketing department
  • Keeps the Task Team updated with agreed resolutions and progress of on-going resolution
  • Coordination of the production of information using agreed standards. Review deliverables ensuring that the information produced by the Task Team is compliant with the Project SMP (standard method and procedure) prior to being shared
  • Understand training and support requirements of TaskTeam with respect to the Project SMP
  • Delivery of the relevant information in accordance with the Task Information Delivery Plan (TIDP)
  • Resolution of spatial coordination issues and escalates unresolved coordination issues to the Task Team Information Manager
  • Provides Task Team with updated agreed resolutions and progress of on-going resolution items
  • Review the information produced by the Task Team against the brief to ensure that the information deliverables are consistent with the required Suitability Code
  • Identify and communicate risks associated with the Information issue to the Delivery Team

Key Skills

  • HND/HNC in civil or structural engineering
  • Good understanding of engineering principles
  • Able to produce hand calculations and sketches of structural elements
  • Knowledge of design software and its limitations

  • Ability to work within the ISO 19650 environment and associated processes
  • University degree in civil or structural engineering

Technical

  • Conversant in designing to British Standards/Eurocodes
  • Competent in designing structures in concrete, steelwork, timber and masonry
  • Able to use computer design software packages
  • Experience in new build projects
  • Knowledge of refurbishment projects
  • Good detailing knowledge including buildability aspects
  • Good understanding of CDM regulations and responsibilities of a designer

Judgement and decision making

  • Able to identify and define simple engineering problems
  • Able to identify alternative engineering solutions to satisfy the client’s brief

Communication

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to produce accurate and clear sketches to communicate engineering solutions
  • Experience in the production of specifications, technical reports and feasibility studies

Relationship building

  • Work effectively within and across teams and project groups
