The Percy Hedley Foundation is one of the largest regional charities supporting people with a range of learning and physical needs. We take a person centred, flexible approach to the care and support we provide. We have five sites providing specialist education, adult day services, residential care and independent supported living to our service users. Our sites are based in Forest Hall, Killingworth, Jesmond, Newcastle City Centre and North Shields.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Tutor to join our experienced team at Hedley’s College Hub, West Lane Campus. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with a diverse range of complex needs. We seek an individual who has experience of planning, preparing, managing and delivering high quality learning to a group of young people aged 16-25 with a range of complex learning and physical disabilities. We are ideally looking for a candidate with experience of profound autism.
The successful candidate will:
- Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality, personalised learning programmes to prepare learners for adulthood.
- Have experience of working with learners with profound autism.
- Be confident in implementing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies to promote engagement, well-being and personal development.
- Be flexible and highly organised, with the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet a variety of learning styles and needs.
- Understand the importance of structure, routine and consistency for learners with complex needs.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support learners in achieving their educational and life goals.
