The Goods In Inspector is responsible for inspecting all incoming materials, components, and sub-contracted items to ensure they meet specified quantity, quality, and certification requirements before release into production or stores. This role is a critical control point in maintaining product conformity and traceability throughout the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect all incoming goods, raw materials, components, and sub-contracted parts against purchase orders, drawings, and specifications.
  • Verify quantities received match delivery notes and purchase order documentation.
  • Check dimensional and visual quality of incoming items using appropriate measuring equipment (callipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.).
  • Review and verify supplier certification, including Certificates of Conformity (CofC), material certificates, and EASA Form 1 / FAA 8130-3 where applicable.
  • Identify and quarantine non-conforming products, raising Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) as required.
  • Liaise with Procurement and Quality departments regarding supplier issues, discrepancies, or rejected goods.
  • Ensure correct labelling, storage, and handling of inspected goods prior to release.
  • Adhere to company health and safety, 5S, and quality management procedures at all times.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a Goods In, Quality Inspection, or Incoming Inspection role, ideally within aerospace, automotive, or another regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of quality documentation, including CofC, material certs, and inspection reports.
  • Competent in the use of measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • High attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic IT skills (ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Office).

Desirable:

  • Experience working to AS9100 / AS9120 quality standards.
  • Familiarity with EASA Part 21G / Part 145 requirements.
  • Experience with aerospace-specific certification (EASA Form 1, FAA 8130-3, CAA equivalents).
  • Previous experience in an aircraft interiors or aerospace manufacturing environment.
