About the role: As Senior Product Manager, Medical Imaging, you'll specialise in Medical Imaging and Clinical Trials SaaS solutions, using your significant experience as a Product Manager to drive portfolio business strategy and market success of cutting-edge cloud-based platforms which revolutionise medical imaging workflows in Clinical Research.
Forming part of the Perceptive Imaging R&D Group and collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders across our international network, you'll be tasked with defining product portfolio strategy based on customer needs, market trends and business goals, focusing on automated workflow platforms and integrated SaaS solutions which accelerate clinical trial timelines whilst ensuring regulatory compliance.
Leveraging deep expertise in clinical trial operations and SaaS platform management, you'll focus on translating industry trends and technological developments to generate business advantages. A genuine enthusiast, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping business opportunities into innovative, commercially successful solutions delivering transformative value to the life sciences industry.
Key Responsibilities
- AI & Automation Strategy: Define and own the product vision for a comprehensive AI-enabled medical imaging SaaS platform serving clinical trials globally. Develop strategic roadmaps that integrate the latest scientific developments to reduce manual review time and accelerate trial timelines. Collaborate with technical teams to identify opportunities for automation, predictive analytics, and intelligent image processing (automated quality control, protocol deviation detection, biomarker quantification). Create compelling business cases for automation and AI investments, demonstrating ROI through efficiency gains, reduced error rates, and improved trial outcomes.
- SaaS Platform Development: Drive platform strategy for multi-tenant, cloud-native SaaS solutions supporting diverse imaging modalities (MRI, CT, PET, ultrasound, digital pathology). Establish SaaS metrics and KPIs including platform uptime, scalability targets, user adoption rates, customer success metrics, and trial efficiency improvements. Define integration strategies with existing clinical trial management systems (CTMS), electronic data capture (EDC), and PACS/imaging vendor ecosystems.
- Strategic Planning & Execution: Translate strategy into actionable roadmaps and prioritise features based on clinical impact, business value, user needs, and technical feasibility. Align the product vision with business goals and market opportunities. Collaborate with clinical trial sponsors, imaging CROs, and site users to gather insights and validate product direction. Collaborate with commercial, marketing and customer success teams to ensure product-market fit and go-to-market alignment. Collaborate with Product Owners and Solution Architects to translate business requirements into technical feasibility assessments and platform architecture decisions. Work with Product Owners to ensure user requirements are translated into detailed functional requirements and user stories aligned with clinical workflows.
- Market and Competitive Intelligence: Analyse competitive landscape in medical imaging SaaS, emerging AI capabilities, and regulatory trends to inform product evolution. Monitor industry trends and competitor offerings to inform product strategy. Develop differentiated value propositions per customer segment.
- Product Lifecycle Management: Manage the full product lifecycle from concept to retirement, with emphasis on continuous business value delivery, ensuring continuous alignment with business objectives. Monitor product performance through clinical trial outcomes, imaging throughput metrics, AI model performance, and user satisfaction. Lead the strategy for product launches including go-to-market planning, user training programs, and customer success enablement. Establish feedback loops with clinical users to drive continuous improvement in automation accuracy and workflow efficiency. Establish feedback loops with external customers to drive continuous product improvement, including new features. Develop evolution strategies of existing products to cloud-based SaaS platforms.
- Budgeting and Financial Oversight: Manage product budgets for large initiatives, including resource allocation and financial viability assessments.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Provide functional leadership to other Product Managers, offering guidance on product development, clinical trials domain expertise, coaching and performance feedback. Foster a culture of innovation, data-driven decision making, and customer-centricity.
- Stakeholder Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership and clients. Serve as the voice of the customer and market within the organisation. Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and forums to influence market perception and gather insights.
- Business Analysis & Process Improvement: Lead the analysis of clinical imaging workflows, user journeys, and operational bottlenecks to identify automation opportunities. Evaluate usability and accessibility of product designs and prototypes. Drive business process reengineering initiatives to eliminate manual data entry, reduce imaging review cycles, and accelerate trial database locks.
- Regulatory Compliance & Quality Management: Ensure SaaS platform adheres to regulatory requirements (21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA, GDPR, GxP) and industry standards (DICOM, HL7 FHIR). Collaborate with Quality department to maintain validation documentation, audit trails, and compliance evidence. Collaborate on the design of AI/ML features with explainability and clinical validation requirements in mind. Maintain awareness of FDA guidance on AI/ML in medical devices and clinical decision support.
- Clinical Trial Domain Expertise & Workflow Optimization: Deep engagement with clinical imaging workflows including image acquisition, quality control, transfer, central review, and endpoint adjudication. Partner with clinical operations to identify automation opportunities in imaging charter development, site qualification, protocol compliance monitoring, and data management. Design features that address specific clinical trial challenges: multi-site standardization, reader blinding, inter-reader variability, protocol adherence tracking. Ensure platform capabilities support diverse therapeutic areas (oncology, neurology …) with specialized imaging endpoints.
Functional Competencies (Technical knowledge/Skills): Strategic thinker with demonstrated experience in SaaS product management and platform scaling. Strong product mindset balancing user-centric design with technical feasibility and business viability. Expertise in Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe), SDLC, and product lifecycle tools. Strong commercial mindset and ability to align product strategy with business goals. Experience in market analysis, customer segmentation and value proposition design. Data-driven decision maker with proficiency in product analytics and A/B testing. Good understanding of medical imaging. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and SaaS architecture patterns (microservices, APIs, multi-tenancy). Knowledge of imaging data standards (DICOM, NIfTI). Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to translate complex concepts for diverse audiences. Strong stakeholder management capabilities across technical teams, clinical users, and executive leadership. Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities with focus on talent development and team building. High interpersonal awareness and ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority. Strong analytical abilities with experience in ROI modelling, business case development, and value proposition design. Systems thinking approach to solving complex clinical workflow challenges. Ability to balance innovation with risk management in regulated environments. Demonstrable adaptability with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, regulated, and cross-functional environment. Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid iteration in emerging technology spaces.
Experience, Education and Certifications: Extensive experience in medical imaging within clinical trials or life sciences. Proven track record in SaaS product management with experience scaling cloud-based platforms. Experience with AI/ML product development including model deployment, performance monitoring, and clinical validation would be an advantage. Demonstrated experience in automation and workflow optimization within clinical operations. Experience with imaging viewer technologies (OHIF, Cornerstone.js, commercial PACS viewers). Experience coaching and training colleagues and peers in product management practices. Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline (Maths, Science, Engineering, Computing, etc.) or a related study, or equivalent project-related experience. English: Fluent.
