About the role
Job Purpose
As a Senior AI/ML Engineer, you'll play a key role in leveraging advanced machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, as well as software engineering, to develop innovative solutions that drive business growth and enhance operational efficiency, while contributing to the advancement of our AI capabilities. A critical role at the heart of our development activities, you'll be involved in designing, implementing and optimizing models to solve complex problems from new capabilities to optimizing core processes. A team player, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI/ML capabilities into production level cloud architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, privacy and performance. Working remotely in the UK, you'll be a real enthusiast; passionate about technology with a strong analytical mindset and committed to staying at the forefront of AI/ML advances.
Key Responsibilities
- Cross functional collaboration
- Partners with scientists, domain experts, software engineers and product teams to define requirements.
- Supports product owners in refining user stories and defining acceptance criteria.
- Translates business requirements into technical AI solutions.
- Communicates complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Technical leadership & mentorship
- Provides technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Leads technical planning and execution of AI/ML initiatives.
- Reviews code and ML implementations from team members.
- Algorithm and software development
- Identifies state-of-the-art AI technique (ML, Deep Learning, genAI etc.) and the needed data sets, to solve business problems.
- Designs and develops AI and ML models to solve complex business problems and drives automation and efficiency improvements in our workflows.
- Responsible for algorithm design, development, implementation, testing, and documentation for medical imaging processing systems.
- Prepares data for AI models, including cleansing, transformation and feature engineering.
- Trains and fine tunes AI models, including the preparation of data sets, incorporating pre-processing and post-processing steps to further refine AI model output.
- Measures model accuracy.
- Follows the current state-of-the-art technology and best software engineering practices to implement AI models.
- Deployment and integration (MLOps)
- Collaborates with solution and application architects to ensure successful integration of AI models with enterprise platform and use in production.
- Identifies and addresses issues related to scalability, performance, security, privacy, and reliability of ML models.
- Works on deploying models in production environments, managing data pipelines, and ensuring scalability.
- Follows the current state-of-the-art technology and best software engineering practices to deploy AI models to production.
- Sets up and monitors performance (MLOps).
- Innovation & research application
- Stays current with AI/ML research advances and evaluates their practical applications.
- Identifies opportunities to improve existing systems with new techniques.
- Contributes to the company’s intellectual property through innovative solutions.
- Publishes and presents work at conferences.

Experience, Education, and Certifications
- Solid professional experience in the same or very similar role.
- Proven experience in developing and deploying AI/ML solutions in real-world applications.
- Expertise in Machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization technologies.
- Strong background in data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
- Strong experience with medical imaging modalities (such as CT, MRI, PET, or SPECT) and DICOM standard (images, annotations, and segmentation).
- Experience with feature stores and ML data pipelines.
- Experience of regulated environments (GxP, Financial, etc…) or relevant experience from another domain that is transferable.
- Solid proven experience of working in and knowledge of medical imaging or clinical development in the life sciences industry.
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline (Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Computing, etc.) or a related study, or equivalent project-related experience.
- English: Fluent
