Peraton is searching for an experienced Network Unified Collaboration (UC) Engineer to join our team in Wiesbaden, Germany. This on‑site position supports the U.S. Army Europe Regional Cyber Center (RCC‑E).
Role and Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, maintain, optimize, and secure the Cisco Unified Communications (UC) infrastructure footprint for the RCC‑E.
- Perform daily health checks, proactive monitoring, and Tier‑3 troubleshooting for the Cisco Collaboration Suite (CUCM, Unity, UCCX, CER, Expressways, CUBEs) to ensure 99.9% availability for mission‑critical voice services across the AORs.
- Configure and maintain SIP trunks, H.323 gateways, SRST, CUBE, and Microsoft Teams trunk configurations for integration with Army Azure cloud or tactical voice networks.
- Manage Cisco IOS Voice Gateways (SIP/SRTP) – execute configuration updates, firmware patches, and dial‑plan optimizations for secure and reliable call routing.
- Serve as the functional lead for UC‑related identity tasks within Cisco ISE; maintain 802.1X port security for collaboration endpoints and troubleshoot authentication failures to ensure secure network access.
- Provide operational support for multi‑platform video environments including MS Teams Rooms (MTR) and Cisco Webex; manage SBC connectivity for Direct Routing and ensure interoperability between VTC hardware and software codecs.
- Support VTC operations, including scheduling, endpoint support, and bridging through tactical and RHN network for secure and non‑secure VTC calls.
- Implement and maintain DISA STIG compliance across all UC and video assets; collaborate with the Security team to remediate vulnerabilities and ensure the UC posture meets Army Top‑Level Architecture (ATLA) standards.
- Integrate collaboration services with Active Directory, PKI/certificate authorities, Cloud platforms and DNS for secure authentication and service delivery.
- Provide Tier‑3 escalation support and mentor other team members on UC technologies.
- Act as the technical liaison between the UC team and the Network Automation Operations pillars; provide technical input for Change Management boards and assist in the documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Manage the day‑2 operations of the UC infrastructure, including user provisioning, certificate renewals, and capacity monitoring of SIP trunks and VTC bridges.
Documentation & Collaboration
- Maintain up‑to‑date architecture diagrams, runbooks, and SOPs; participate in formal change‑control processes.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field and 8+ years of relevant experience, or an Associate’s degree and 10+ years’ relevant experience, or a high school diploma and 12+ years’ relevant experience.
- Certifications (8140 DCWF Code 441): DCWF: 441 – SecurityX/CASP+, CCNP Security, CCSP, GCIA, GCED, GCIH. And one of the following: CCNP Collaboration, CCNP Routing and Switching, CCNP Security, CCIE.
Hands‑On Expertise
- Unified Communications & Collaboration: Minimum 5 years administering the Cisco Collaboration stack, including CUCM, UCCX, Unity Connection, and Cisco Emergency Responder (CER); proven track record of maintaining Cisco Expressways, Voice Gateways (ISR/VG), Analog Gateways and Cisco Unified Border Elements (CUBEs).
- Identity & Network Access Control: Proficiency in Cisco ISE and 802.1X protocols; manage endpoint identity policies, troubleshoot authentication/authorization failures for UC devices, and ensure hardware is correctly profiled within the network access architecture.
- Network Foundation (L2/L3): Strong command of Campus Routing and Switching (Cisco Catalyst/Nexus); diagnose and resolve Layer 2 (VLANs, Spanning Tree, PoE) and Layer 3 (OSPF/BGP, QoS/DSCP) issues that impact real‑time voice and video traffic.
- Video Integration: Experience supporting multi‑vendor video solutions (MS Teams Rooms, Webex, Polycom) and ensuring interoperability between legacy VTC hardware and modern cloud‑based collaboration platforms.
- Configuration Management & Documentation: Maintain accurate Network Topology Diagrams, Port/Cable maps, and System SOPs; manage configuration backups, version control, and formal change‑management records for audit readiness and disaster recovery.
- Deep understanding of SIP, including message flows, call negotiation, early media, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Practical experience with major SBC platforms: Cisco CUBE, Ribbon, Audio codecs.
- Understanding of network security principles, including ACLs, NAT, and IPS/IDS.
- Understanding of Cisco ISE policies, 802.1X, RADIUS, TACACS+, TrustSec, Software‑Defined Access; familiarity with CLI tools (e.g., TMSH), networking concepts, protocols, and security principles.
Soft Skills & Security Clearance requirements
- Demonstrated analytical, troubleshooting, and communication experience and capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast‑paced, mission‑critical settings.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Active DoD Secret security clearance.
