We're working with a leading, UK-focussed, deeptech venture capital fund who are looking to hire a Senior Investor into the team.
About our client
We are working with an exciting venture capital fund, focussed on deeptech and life sciences, who are seeking a senior investor to join the team. With strong performance from their previous funds, the team has recently completed a significant 1st close of their 3rd fund hence this is an exciting time to join and back some of the leading, IP-rich, companies across the UK. As a lean team, this is a hands-on position offering significant responsibility leading the full investment lifecycle, alongside the opportunity to play a hands-on role in shaping and growing a portfolio of innovative, high-potential businesses. The role would be based in the UK with circa one day a week required close to Oxford. This role will focus on the deeptech part of their mandate rather than life sciences.
What the job involves
- You will be responsible for identifying, executing, and managing investments, working closely with portfolio companies from initial sourcing through to exit.
- Sourcing and evaluating new investment opportunities
- Leading business case development and investment proposals
- Conducting market and technology due diligence
- Negotiating and executing deals
- Supporting portfolio companies at board level, including strategy development and performance monitoring
- Assisting with the recruitment of senior leadership within portfolio businesses
- Maintaining a strong understanding of portfolio performance and risks
- Supporting fundraising activities
- Leading or contributing to exit processes
Who we are looking for
- Operational experience with deeptech startups is essential given how closely they work with their portfolio
- Strong knowledge of relevant markets, with the ability to identify high-growth opportunities
- Deeptech investment experience, while not a requirement, would be beneficial
- Solid technical or sector understanding to assess business models and risks effectively
- Board-level experience or readiness to operate in a governance capacity would be complimentary
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to influence and challenge constructively
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- A proactive, hands-on approach to working with portfolio companies
- Confidence in making complex and high-impact decisions
