About our client

Reporting to the Managing Partner, the Finance and Portfolio Controller will lead the finance function, driving operational improvements, enhancing processes, and providing clear financial insight across both the group and fund operations. This is a high-impact role with full responsibility for finance, covering reporting, controls, and day-to-day operations. You’ll play a key part in scaling and shaping the finance function, while also acting as the lead finance contact for fundraising activities. What the job involves

  • Perform portfolio company valuations in line with IPEV standards and monitor performance metrics
  • Analyse fund performance, management fees, carried interest, and forecast fund outturns
  • Prepare quarterly reporting and respond to ad hoc investor queries
  • Manage drawdowns, distributions, trade settlements, and investor documentation
  • Support audits, tax compliance, FCA reporting, and due diligence processes
  • Assist with fund structuring, new fund launches, and financial modelling
  • Prepare monthly and annual accounts, budgets, and long-term financial plans
  • Oversee cash flow, liquidity, treasury, FX planning, and expense controls
  • Manage payroll, pensions, and insurance policies
  • Engage with portfolio founders on finance matters, including venture debt, grants, and reporting best practices

Who we are looking for

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA or equivalent)
  • Experience within a private equity or venture capital finance function
  • Strong understanding of valuations, portfolio performance analysis, and fund structures
  • Highly detail-oriented and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Collaborative and ambitious, with a thoughtful and measured approach
  • Excellent communication skills, able to distill complex financial information clearly for a range of stakeholders
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment with changing priorities
  • Enthusiastic about leveraging technology and automation (including AI) to enhance processes and efficiency
