PER is partnering with an international venture capital investor to appoint a Finance Director with oversight of both management company and fund finance functions. Reporting directly to the COO, the Finance Director will lead the finance team and play a key role in driving improvement, operational efficiency, and strategic insight across the business. This is a high-impact leadership role, responsible for managing a well-established finance team and ensuring excellence across financial operations, reporting, and controls. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, including the wider partnership and investment teams, acting as a strategic business partner during new transactions. The role also involves regular engagement with external directors, legal advisors, and third-party finance providers. A key aspect of the position is the development and mentorship of junior team members, supporting their growth while driving the overall performance of the finance function.
What the job involves:
- Lead and manage all aspects of group and fund finance functions
- Ensure the accuracy, quality, and timely delivery of statutory and management financial reporting to internal stakeholders, external parties, and regulatory authorities
- Take full ownership of payroll, VAT, and corporation tax compliance across the group
- Oversee all financial reporting, including preparation and delivery of quarterly management accounts, board packs, and participation in board meetings
- Coordinate the collation and review of investment valuation papers for quarterly internal valuation meetings
- Develop and maintain robust valuation methodologies and portfolio monitoring systems
- Prepare statutory annual accounts, half-year reports, and other periodic filings for the listed entity
- Manage the year-end audit process, acting as the primary liaison with auditors, tax advisors, and VCT advisers
- Design, implement, and refine accounting, reporting, and financial control processes
- Lead the development and delivery of investor reporting materials
- Ensure the integrity and timely analysis of investment data to support decision-making
- Oversee the relationship with the external IT service provider, ensuring effective delivery of IT services to the finance function
Who we are looking for:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Proven experience within a private equity or venture capital finance function is essential
- Familiarity with VCT accounting and regulatory frameworks is highly desirable
- In-depth understanding of valuation methodologies and financial control processes
- Demonstrated leadership and team management experience, with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams
- Strong knowledge of international accounting standards with the ability to apply them in complex investment structures
- Track record of driving process and systems improvements within a finance function
- Excellent business partnering skills, with a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and confidently
