Reports to: Regional Sales Director

We are partnering with a high-growth technology business operating within the energy transition and electrification sector to appoint a Business Development Manager. This is a pivotal role focused on driving new business growth, developing strategic partnerships, and expanding market presence across the UK. The successful candidate will join a business entering an exciting new phase of growth, offering significant autonomy, visibility, and long-term career progression. This role is ideally suited to a commercially driven salesperson who enjoys building markets, creating opportunities from scratch, and owning the full sales cycle from prospecting through to close and ongoing partner development.

The Role

  • New Business Development (70%)
    • Identify, engage, and win new customers and strategic partners across the UK market.
    • Build and manage a robust pipeline through proactive prospecting, networking, market mapping, and outreach activity.
    • Develop territory plans and execute targeted business development strategies.
    • Lead commercial negotiations and close complex, multi-stakeholder opportunities.
    • Collaborate with internal technical and operational teams to ensure successful onboarding and implementation.
    • Create new opportunities within existing and emerging market segments.
  • Partner Development & Growth (30%)
    • Manage and grow a select portfolio of strategic partner relationships.
    • Deliver business reviews, product education, and commercial support to maximise partner success.
    • Support joint business planning and growth initiatives.
    • Work cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and customer success teams to drive partner engagement and performance.

Strategy & Execution

  • Maintain accurate pipeline management and forecasting through Salesforce.
  • Analyse market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.
  • Represent the business at industry events, exhibitions, and partner meetings.
  • Provide regular market intelligence and strategic recommendations to leadership.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Proven track record in business development, sales, or commercial roles with a strong new-business focus.
  • Experience building and managing a sales pipeline from scratch.
  • Demonstrable history of exceeding sales targets and quota attainment.
  • Strong experience managing complex B2B sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Comfortable balancing strategic relationship building with hands-on prospecting activity.
  • Experience selling technical products, solutions, software, hardware, or a combination of both.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to forecast, prioritise, and manage opportunities effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the UK.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within energy, electrification, sustainability, infrastructure, technology, SaaS, or adjacent sectors.
  • Exposure to channel sales, distribution, partner sales, or indirect sales models.
  • Experience working within a high-growth SME, scale-up, venture-backed, or entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong Salesforce discipline and CRM management.
  • Experience launching new territories, markets, or verticals.
