OVERVIEW
The Specification Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager and works closely with all departments, including Sales, Design, Purchasing and Production, as well as external suppliers and customers.
The Specification Engineer is responsible for generating technical specifications and associated documentation, working collaboratively with departments and managers to support successful project delivery and overall business objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical
- Generate internal technical specifications, 2D drawings and general assembly drawings based on quotations and customer specifications.
- Create product structures, including Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings within the ERP system to support the timely procurement of components.
- Ensure all required drawings are available and approved for each works order.
- Compile manuals and other technical documentation for works orders.
- Release product structures in line with works order generation schedules.
- Maintain supporting documentation and drawings for standard products.
- Communicate and follow up with customers, suppliers and internal departments.
- Obtain internal and external approval of engineering drawings and issue them to relevant stakeholders.
- Support the Engineering and Production teams by maintaining the standard parts library.
- Generate configuration files based on technical product specifications

- Maintain records for customer orders within company systems
- Manage the priority and workflow of files awaiting specification
- Document Systems
- Maintain and monitor the continuous improvement worksheet.
- Control standard product documentation using engineering change control and version control processes.
- Quality, Health, Safety and Environment
- Maintain quality standards within established processes.
- Maintain health and safety standards within the working area.
- Maintain environmental standards within the working area.

- Support the Engineering function in achieving the company's on-time delivery (OTD) objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE
Desirable
- UK Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience using 2D drawing software.
- Microsoft 365.
- Working knowledge of AC (single and three phase) and DC systems (24V, 48V, 110V and 220V up to 350A).
- Understanding of EMC best practices, including wiring panel layout for signal segregation.
SKILLS
- Experience using 2D drawing software such as Autodesk products or Eplan.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Excel and Word.
- Good numeracy skills.
- Project and process management skills are advantageous.
- Ability to interpret customer requirements.
