Responsibilities
- Ensure Site legal compliance with respect to environmental policy through clear governance and appropriate action escalation.
- Clear accountability for key elements of GEHSMS and authority to ensure the Operations Team has the correct level of support.
- Accountable for the appropriate close out of environmental non-conformances, incidents, and risk mitigation in a timely manner.
- Accountable for ensuring robust change management is used for all aspects of Environment & Sustainability change.
- Accountable for timely reporting of key environmental & sustainability data both internally and externally, to include: pollution inventory report, WRAP waste and food waste returns, F-GAS losses, UK Energy Trading Scheme, permit variation, etc.
- Act as primary Point Of Contact for Site when interacting with key external stakeholders maintaining strong professional relationships with regulatory bodies (ABPR, Environment Agency, Severn Trent etc).
Qualifications
- Experience of a regulatory driven organisation & knowledge of relevant environmental legislation.
- NEBOSH Environmental Diploma and Environmental NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent or capability to complete within defined timeline.
- WAMITAB Level 4 certification (operator competency for waste facilities) – advantageous.
- Effective communicator: able to tailor messaging appropriately to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Effective decision maker: able to respond and make timely decisions, both directly and indirectly as a coach and subject matter expert.
- Understanding of lean principles, loss identification and problem solving.
