Leading the site requirements and procedures to maintain and develop the site's SCADA, PLC and advanced control systems and infrastructures. To drive initiatives in improving the plant control systems and provide technical leadership for the Site technician group, ensuring all documentation, back up and emergency procedures are in place and regularly updated in line with Global CSS requirements. Managing control system integrators through capital projects design, build and execute phases to ensure that any projects are implemented in line with the Pepsico Standards.
Responsibilities
- Managing the site-based control system infrastructure and asset base to the global PepsiCo controls standards, being the site strong link in cyber security.
- Developing the technical requirements of Shift technician population to maintain production 24/7.
- Maintain the site PLC and SCADA systems, ensuring targets for availability and data integrity are met, compliance to business standards and audits is maintained.
- Accountable for all Network Drawings and ensuring all are up to date.
- Ensure all system Backups and Recovery Procedures are in place and up to date and in line with CSS business standards.
- Accountable for ensuring the systems Risk assessment is in place and up to date, with plans in place to mitigate any known risks to site based infrastructure.
- Manage and implement support contracts and system upgrades to maintain the value and concurrency of the systems.
- Implement software changes to the system to deliver plant and business requirements.
- Development of project related URS technical documentation to the correct level of detail for all capex projects that require CSS interfaces.
- Project Manage the delivery of control system projects through appointed System Integrators.
- Leading any necessary SAT or FAT on control system related upgrades and new equipment.
- Identify opportunities for improved control and production information, generating clear action plans and benefits.
- Manage PLC/systems obsolescence risks and build proposals into annual obsolescence PSP programme.
- Manage Rockwell hardware management programme to ensure spare parts holding for site is at the required level and that all critical assets are covered.
- Develop Software budget AOP for sites to cover all requirements and additional licenses.
- Support the Front-Line teams on technical breakdowns.
- Act as point of contact for site-based IT support (i.e., Wi-Fi upgrades, etc.).
- Improve capability for Engineering team leaders, Shift tech group on all aspects of the computer control systems.
- Accountable for the successful build and delivery of the site Software budget.
Qualifications
- Fully authorized and knowledgeable on electrical equipment and systems through qualifications and experience.
- Fundamental knowledge of electrical systems through qualifications and/or experience.
- Excellent fault-finding skills.
- At least 3 years experience in programming PLCs and microprocessor-based control equipment for major projects.
- Able to demonstrate good working knowledge of SCADA systems, PC programmes and networks.
- Good knowledge of Wonderware systems.
- Good knowledge of Safety PLC systems and applications.
- Able to demonstrate skills in high-level language programming.
- Good knowledge of process and packaging technology.
- Excellent communication skills, able to work as a team member, with both management and front-line groups.
- Able to train Control system specialists and Shift Technicians in fault analysis, root cause failure analysis and rectification, and higher-level systems fault recovery.
- Ability to prioritize workload based on impact to site.
- Demonstrate a genuine appetite to lead activities to improve asset reliability.
- Good communication and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- CMMS literacy essential (experience of SAP preferred).
