As we continue to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Business Development Director to help us build meaningful new client relationships and shape the next stage of Pepper’s growth.
The Role
This is a senior, relationship-led new business role for someone who understands the social media landscape and can confidently speak to the value of influencer marketing, creator partnerships, UGC, organic social, paid media, research and creative work. You’ll be responsible for identifying, developing and converting new business opportunities, working closely with Pepper’s leadership team and marketing function to bring the right opportunities into the agency. This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to build and shape Pepper’s new business approach as the agency continues to expand.
Key Responsibilities
- Qualify and convert inbound new business enquiries
- Build and execute outbound strategies across email, LinkedIn, industry networking and other relevant channels
- Identify and open conversations with prospective clients across the UK and international markets
- Represent Pepper at industry events, meetings and networking opportunities
- Lead sales conversations across Pepper’s core service areas, including influencer marketing, paid media, research, organic social, creative and production
- Build relationships with brands, creators, talent managers and industry partners to unlock proactive opportunities
- Lead discovery conversations and fact-finding sessions with prospective clients
- Translate client needs into clear internal briefs for the wider team
- Collaborate with internal and external specialists on proposals, pitch materials and presentations
- Pitch, negotiate and close new business opportunities
- Support onboarding of new clients before handing over to the delivery team
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role will be centred on sourcing, winning and onboarding high-quality new business. You’ll focus on building long-term partnerships and retainer-based opportunities, while also identifying smaller projects that have clear potential to grow. You’ll be expected to bring structure, energy and momentum to the new business process, helping Pepper build a consistent and sustainable pipeline of opportunities.

- Has strong experience in business development, partnerships or sales within social media, influencer marketing, creative, media or agency environments
- Understands the social media and creator economy landscape
- Can speak credibly about influencer marketing, UGC, organic social, paid media and creative strategy
- Is confident starting conversations with senior stakeholders and prospective clients
- Has a strong network and knows how to nurture relationships over time
- Is proactive, commercially minded and comfortable following up opportunities
- Enjoys pitching, storytelling and turning conversations into clear opportunities
- Can work collaboratively with creative, strategy, client services and leadership teams
- Is motivated by building something new and helping shape a growth function
- Is comfortable working with autonomy while staying closely connected to the wider team
