Role Purpose

The Junior HR Advisor role is designed as a natural progression from a HR Administrator position. It is ideal for someone who has completed their CIPD Level 3 qualification, or who is working towards it (or Level 5), and is ready to take on more responsibility, broaden their HR knowledge, and develop confidence in providing people-focused support. The role holder's time will be split between Administration and more involved Advisory work. The ability to form strong working relations with stakeholders and colleagues is absolutely key.

The postholder will support the FPM business, acting as a first point of contact for day-to-day HR queries and providing consistent, practical advice. Working closely with the HR Business Partners and HR Advisors, they will gain hands-on experience across the full employee lifecycle while continuing to own key administrative duties. This hybrid role combines home working, time in our Leeds office, and occasional national travel to support business needs and build strong working relationships. There is genuine development potential, with opportunities for internal progression as capability and confidence grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • HR Advisory Support

Provide first-line HR advice to FPM Customers and Stericycle managers and employees. Support employee relations cases (sickness, performance, conduct), ensuring accurate documentation. Assist with policy interpretation and help managers apply HR processes consistently. Escalate complex matters to the HR Advisor or HR Business Partners as appropriate.

  • HR Operations & Administration

Deliver key HR administrative tasks with accuracy and compliance. Maintain employee records, HR systems, and documentation. Prepare letters, reports, and HR data insights.

  • Business Partnering Support

Assist HR Business Partners and the HR Advisor with cyclical HR activity (e.g., performance reviews, engagement initiatives, organisational change). Contribute to HR projects and continuous improvement workstreams.

  • Learning & Development

Take ownership of personal development, including working towards CIPD qualifications if not already completed. Build knowledge of employment law, HR best practice, and internal policies. Seek opportunities to expand advisory capability and take on more complex work over time.

Person Specification

Essential

  • CIPD Level 3 (completed or in progress), or willingness to work towards Level 3 or Level 5.

  • Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, and passionate about developing a career in HR.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
